Default Re: Devonte Redmand

I would rather have Redmond coming off the bench to replace Harris for the last 20 than Rutherford. I wouldn't be surprised if the takeover happens and Keates gets the boot, we will be watching a team with Jarvis, Redmond, Young, Durrell and Harris in it.

Regarding Thomas up front on his own, well that is just stupid from the management. It's obvious to me that he is the player that knocks on headers for his strike partner to get on the end of. At the moment he is just knocking the headers on to no one.

I don't believe Redmond has helped himself a great deal but Dean doesn't have the management skills to either support him at the club or encourage him to try and build a career elsewhere. At this level he is not lacking in skill but appears ill at ease with attitude and commitment.
Come on Dean, make decisions and give him a chance either here or elsewhere.

Thomas has gone through a host of clubs in the last 6 years, never staying long.

Fact - the most goals he has ever scored at one club (Solihull Moors) in one stay is a mere FOUR goals - and he took 25 games to do that.

The stats alone should have set alarm bells ringing - he is a striker and they are needed in the final third to score goals - he might have other attributes but is it any wonder we can hardly score a goal.

You could have fooled me.

The thing is, that season he bagged 4 goals, he was playing up front as part of a two. The lad playing in that front two managed to bag 29 goals that season. I'm guessing Thomas had a lot of assists and made things happen to Yusif to bag that many goals.

I don’t think Thomas had many assists, have you seen him play? He can’t control a ball and second touch is always a tackle.

Two words for anyone suggesting our lack of goals scoring prowess is down to anything other than coaching and tactics

I think you are wrong, goal scoring isnt something that can be coached, its about instinct, quick mind, calmness when a chance comes and alot of self belief that when a chance goes begging, you keep getting in the right areas and make sure you take the next one. Finding one at NL level is never easy and if they have proved themselves they are snapped up or even if they show a few months of promise, clubs higher up the pyramid want to give them a chance. We have got to hope, now Yussuf and Ponticelli are returning to fitness, they can start to consistently score the goals we need

Supporters are generally well informed - those who watch live matches don't take long to suss a player out - I cannot give Redmond any plaudits for looking better than some in a pre season friendly v a second string Salford City. At least Akil Wright had a go - yet to see anything worth persevering with in Redmond. Out of the midfielders currently in the match day squad who would people realistically drop and discard to give him a place - squad cover at best until his contract expires or the revolution is confirmed.
I was actually referring to the ones teeing off on Jordan Davies on Monday in particular and the people rushing to set up the circular firing squad after one bad match after four matches in all.

I think this team is much better than the team Bryan Hughes assembled last year and Dean Keates deserves a chance to make this work. If he can't, move him on and bring someone else in. But I think it's just way too early to start running around shouting the sky is falling quite yet.
