Does that mean they'll pretty much be celebrating their 40th Birthdays too?

Happy Birthday boys...I suppose it's one aspect of the club that's still doing quite well.

It's good that they're still going. In a recession, Stone Island, Burberry and Fosters need all the help they can get.

Default Re: Frontline

Thirty five years ago violence connected to football was killing the game. The big names in violence; Millwall. Chelsea, Leeds etc, imitated by smaller clubs such as our own stopped many families from attending games and a whole generation of potential fans were lost forever.

But we have managed to grow our fan base, I'm not sure how but it must be down to loyalty rather than success on the field. We are a good example - here we are, 11 years in the non-league wilderness, but still attracting fantastic support often over 4,000 and sometimes higher.

In 1985/86, with a fairly average Division Four (Welsh Cup winning) team we were attracting crowds of 957 (Hartlepool, Feb.86), 1090 (Aldershot March 86)
1077 (Torquay April 86) with most home attendances below 2000.

There are a number of factors relating to these figures but the toxic atmosphere of aggression and violence may well of attracted a handful but distanced thousands more.

RR says they are some of our best fans - welcome them with open arms but bring support not violence in our ground.
