This and consider changing it to a 22 game season with teams playing each other once home OR away. Not 44 games home AND away.

It's not like there are fans in there ground giving an advantage to any teams.

In effect then there is no bubble and calling it elite sport at this level is a waste of time?. .

The clubs/National league argued for it to be accepted as elite sport in order that they could hold the play offs last season in order that a promotion place was maintained. There was then talk of reversing this in order that it could be treated as non elite sport and therefore fans would be allowed in although limited numbers.

I know the facts . It is the outcome which is not good. The government drew the line above which football played as elite sport. As is usual with them, they also made a pigs ear of what was needed to keep it safe and allowed the testing to be optional. I wonder if it really mattered as the testing regime is useless anyways.

Unfortunately the clubs could not afford to pay for the testing without (at the time) any income.

FL clubs couldn't afford testing let alone NL, it was going to cost Crewe £7.5K to test players/staff twice a week.

Very unfortunate but convenient for the government. I try to keep the politics of Covid on the off topic pages but when it directly effects the football as it does here , fair game I hope you agree.

so money is more important than health tbh the clubs should not have started the season without having funds in place to pay for testing after all its only a game. If people cant see their family and friends why is it so important that football has to be played??

Not sure why its convenient for the government? The health and safety of employees is down to the employer in this case the football clubs.
