Very interesting article on how Wimbledon have overcome the odds and are returning to Plough Lane with a new ground.
Just think what we might have achieved with a more dynamic board and supporters that didn't spend their time being totally negative.
If the board had made better choices in managers and we had more success on the pitch , the Club would have improved , with bigger gates , better players , improved income etc.
But they in recent years have failed repeatedly , this as led to less support , less income , or wasted income , poorer performances on the pitch = discontent. simple/.

Agreed that's why I said "With a more dynamic board"

I find your post very insulting to our great supporters, Afc Wimbledon are a rare success and it's took 29 yrs... But our fans owned club is just a little plaything for a few secretive dictators.. The majority of our fans have never bought into this tinpot way of running a football club run like a charity shop with well intentioned volunteers, clueless about what a football club is about and that's an entertaining sport.

Our fans have give their all to this little football manager adventure for the few not the many.

Kids have a grown up never seeing a team that plays attacking football just boring pub quality dross from the managers down.

Yes they stabilised the club off the field thanks to the team Saunders left a cup run and money from sell on clauses which have now come to an end and begging bowls.

It's time to embrace a more promising future as other well funded clubs have passed us by and some left us for dead.

This Open all hours Arkwright corner shop mentality is killing our club and I want to see todays young generation have a chance of seeing us succeful in the higher leagues like some of us old bastards did in the 70s.

I suspect the difference between Wimbledon and us is they had more honest professional people running their trust and board.

Afc Wimbledon formed in 2002 so it's taken 18 years fair play to them they have got back into the league and returned to Merton which was their two aims when formed.

Indeed.

It didn't take long for Wimbledon to drop the Fans Direct approach did it?

Meanwhile at Wrexham AFC........

Came up from Conference South and only needed 2 seasons to get out of the National League. I think any comparisons with them are dead and buried. 13 years and counting...

"supporters that didn't spend their time being totally negative".

Appears rewriting history is in full swing and guess what those pesky fans are to share the blame for all the brainless and incompetent decisions taken by the board.

If only these negative fans had supported, with greater enthusiasm, the appointment of a footgolf coach or the attempt to publicly blacken the reputation of a volunteer fans group say, then everything would have worked out perfectly. This is insulting nonsense.

One of best things to come out of fans ownership has been the enthusiasm shown by fans in responding to the problems experienced by the club in this time, from raising the money for the bond to the back the budget to increased crowds ( whilst watching utter dross on the pitch).

The fans could have done no more than they already have done, time to move on.

You are right of course. The attendances and backing of any fund raising efforts have been nothing short of astonishing. In my opinion the ingredients were there but the chefs were ill informed and too hesitant to make the best of them.
