We need the floodlights to be in the shape of the Gresford Colliery Wheel...that would be unique and create a real soul for the ground.

Hence, the ongoing plans to redevelop the kop as part of the new Wrexham Gateway, which will incorporate this iconic stadium, specifically to showcase the sporting heritage of the town.
As the oldest international football stadium in the world, Y Cae Ras is unique: indeed, R&R have openly stated that they were originally attracted to the club and town, because of its heritage, which they have promised to maintain. On that basis alone, it would be difficult for them to ever consider attempting to move from those fields off Crispin Lane.
The Racecourse can and will be upgraded over time, as it has been for hundreds of years in the past.

Reynolds and McElhenney’s guiding principles – in full

To protect the heritage that has made Wrexham AFC and the Racecourse Ground such a special place to watch football for the last 156 years.
To reinforce the values, traditions and legacy of this community. We understand and respect the intense loyalty and love for this club and how it’s woven into the fabric of the town and its supporters.
To use our resources to grow the exposure of the club. Of course, this would be in concert with protecting the heart and spirit of a community-led historical icon. But why can’t the third oldest club in the world have a global appeal?
To reward the faith of the supporters who have stood by Wrexham AFC through its history by putting everything we have towards what all fans want most for their club, and that is to…

Everything we do will be informed by these four principles and never one without the other. We want to be part of Wrexham’s story, not drag the club into ours.

Reynolds and McElhenney also vowed to explore the renovation of the Racecourse Ground,
invest in a permanent training facility and guaranteed the club cannot be relocated, renamed or rebranded. They also emphasised that the club will “always beat” their local rivals Chester FC who currently play in the National League North
pretty sure their actual statement in the WST resolutions pack was that they would not move the club any more than 2 miles from the current ground

Theres very few cases but if in the dream scenario we hit the hallowed land of top tier Championship or the Premiership and we are getting 25 - 30 K wanting tickets then I would say there is a case for moving.

Thats right.

I suppose that's just keeping their options open. Financially a bespoke stadium might make most sense in the long run, particularly if our fortunes improve. Im not sure what the corporate facilities are like at the Racecourse? Its severely lacking in parking and good vehicular access too. That said if the chance to own the ground comes up and the numbers work then you've got one decent modern stand, and a financial commitment from WAG to assist in redeveloping the kop. I think if it was viable most people would want to stay.

The other question for me is why spend monies on a ground that doesn't actually belong to us?

Our hallowed ground reminds me of the sketch with Trigger and his Broom, is there any part left that's original (except the Turf obvs)?

It's on the original footprint and that's what counts.

It would be pretty strange if we had stands over 100 years old still in place.

I think we should stay put and develop. Look what they've done at Anfield which is surrounded by housing.

It's amazing what can be done with current construction methods. Build upwards, not outwards

They knocked down loads of terrace house's around Anfield, but I get what you're saying.
