Exactly. This week we have been taken over by 2 very wealthy celebrities and won 2 games, you would think we're bottom of the league still under WST ownership with the reaction on here. There's probably a 10% chance Keates keeps his job, so why not just take the 6 points and let R&R worry about the rest!

He’s only contracted until the end of the season and assume Davies is the same.
As the clock ticks compensation reduces.
Would the new owners give him a new deal ?

they should drop him like a stone as he did to us when he went to Walsall , the new owners will see that the fans have no time for him and get rid ASAP

Lovely to get a win again but every game seems to be a real battle to win or even score. Looking at the leading goal scorers in the National league we don't have one player in the top 25 scorers.

I thought we played ok yesterday. We dominated most of the first half and created a couple of chances. I thought Ponticelli should have taken his chance first time without taking a touch.

The second half was more scrappy and they should have scored with that chance at the far post.

There’s no shortage of endeavour but the quality is just not there. Thankfully, we have Young and Durrell who do have moments of quality in them. Young’s goal was another belter. If his general play was just a little bit better, he could and would be a league player, without question. I’d be surprised if a league club doesn’t take him next season unless he’s part of our plans and he wants to stay.

3 points from any win is both welcome and necessary, but again more questions than answers.

Our midfield again consisted of 4 individuals who run around to cover ground, but who are limited to mostly defensive work with little or no creativity. They are also too small and too slow. We can live with playing two of them simultaneously -- I would suggest Durrell and Young -- but not all four. Ideally, even they would be subs at best if we genuinely want to win this league this season.

Ponticelli should have scored but the ball was slightly too far back, and he did not have the confidence to hit it first time. He is still our best hope up front, frustrating though his return to match fitness might be. But, worryingly, we only had about 3 shots on target all game, which ain't good enough! That's due to a lack of creativity and dominance in the midfield, and no natural goalscorer up front. Thankfully, Durrell and Young have saved our bacon with two wonder strikes, but relying on that week-in, week-out is a folly -- albeit they are great to see!

Sorry, but Thomas just ain't good enough as the target-man: slow, can't jump, doesn't read the game well, and isn't a proven goalscorer. He has been consistently poor so far.

So, glad we won; but we must improve significantly if we genuinely want to compete. Otherwise, it will be another wasted season to add to a long tally.

Not surprising our best players Lainton and Young were Ricketts signings although he's not doing great at slops.

The fact you have to look down to tied 26th in the Top Goalscorer rankings currently to find a Wrexham player says it all (Young & Yussef both with 2 goals). Other ex-players ranking higher than this or equal on the current list include Danny Wright, John Rooney, JJ Hooper, Scott Boden, Alex Reid and Joe Quigley.

I would temper the above with the fact that we’ve had so many players through the door that we are always likely to see ex-players on this list.

It could be argued quite strongly that the service is the problem and not the striker..how many clear cut chances are we creating (not many). You could have Harry Kane up front but if the ball never got to him in a goal scoring position you’d end up with the same result.

Yesterday’s game was a good example of where there was plenty of space across the Aldershot defence to play into but we never took advantage of that. Playing backwards, sideways or hoofs on to the head of a big man doesn’t stretch defences and therefore doesn’t equal goals. Balls down the sides, pumped over the top or cut back onto the penalty spot from the dead ball area turns defences and causes the defenders to panic leading to goals...we do none of this. We cannot continue to rely on worldies from outside the box by midfielders for our goals.
