Can anyone shed any light on why Jarvis is hardly getting a look in this season?
Pretty sure there was an interview with Keates saying he came back to pre season “not where he should be” in terms of fitness. Not sure if he is still holding a grudge but still doesn’t see him as being fit enough

Davies,Jarvis & Redmond are creative players - in this team headless chickens are more welcome.
Yes we do Davies and Jarvis play wide and both have pace , what is wrong with Keates He`s a bloody nightmare
Jarvis looked like a player that would play in the middle to me. Jordan Davies has shown brief glimpses of ability in games but has gone to pieces a few times when things haven’t been going well. I’m not sure he’s the answer? I’d like to see Jarvis and Redmond involved more given Rutherford is still starting. I was informed pre-season he would only be used sparingly.

Edit:

I do think Redmond, Jarvis and Davies should all be in the squad ahead of Rutherford.
I thought Harris played well. Ruthers I’d drop to a 4. Ponticelli always wants an extra touch and Thomas is a target man with few goals in him. I thought the team worked well up til the last third. Durrell apart, we have little pace, flair or goals from any of our forward line.
I go with that too...midfield worked hard, defence held line well enough
Harris did ok also put a crucial tackle in when they were in on goal near end.
I thought it held shape well...apart from the lack of width and pace upfront. You have to defend from the front and we can't hold it up ..constantly lose possession. Thomas just likes the ball into him ,he's not the type to look for it.

I'd still like to see Davies or Jeffries stretch teams out wide. Jarvis goes forward and hasn't been given a chance apart from one game . He is arguably best ball player in side...good balance and vision

It is like Keates cannot deal with raw talent-instructing players to hoof the ball upfield or just pass back is his limit.Out of his depth otherwise.

Yeah...I think it's set up not to lose as much as anything.
I suppose what was pleasing was work rate and shape today but whilst Thomas is the main man the tactics aren't likely to change. It would work more if there was someone quick to play off him for flicks and hold ups.
Jarvis maybe a player who plays on good pitches and fairweather as the game he he played was in bad conditions and he didn't do so well .
Why not try Durrell upfront to play off ? Durrell works better in a free role anyway.. He's nippy in his own way and knows how to shoot. Now that would be raw and I can't see that be any worse than the statues upfront at the moment.

Games are coming up thick and fast, they will all get their chance, but Keates OBVIOUSLY trusts Ruthers more than the younger lads. When they get their chance it is up to them to keep their shirt and prove they can add something offensively without us losing that good shape/organisation. Durrell can be a luxury at times and not the best for tracking back so probably the main reason why Ruthers has had the nod in front of the others after that bad run of results.

6 for everyone, No one shone above anyone else. A win was achieved without flair and expansive play, players playing to orders in poor conditions. Specific mentions, Lainton does not catch enough and doesn't command his 18 yd box but his shot stopping gains him points. Back 4 didn't concede a goal and the full-backs don't get forward, collectively no more than 6 each. midfield don't want to give away space in front of the back 4 and don't get forward or play in good crosses or killer passes in to feet for the forwards, collective 6. The forwards are chasing scraps like Jack Russells in a junkyard and for effort deserve more than 6 but when Benno didn't get any service he made his own chances or won a pen, so 6 each. Luke Young mentioned in despatches for a goal worth a win 4 leagues higher. Still, a wins a win, and small steps and all that. We do seem like a team that is playing with the brakes on.
