It would be interesting to know about these i.e. why didn't any of them progress to member consultation.

One thing that stood out when Spencer was on the Athletic Podcast with Mark Chapman was he is part of the Kellogg's brexit strategy. Juggling a professional football club and a multinational company cannot be easy. In fact, it's close to impossible.

I wonder if, in hindsight, he might have quit Kelogg's if the CEO role at Wrexham was paid and he could have given it all of his time.
The saving grace is R&R stated their new CEO would have Premiership experience.

I hope we can move on from this soon. The important thing for the WST is that all its members have the opportunity to decide what it’s future should be, and who should be guiding it.

Like him or loathe him, Spencer is one of the few willing to engage with fans and members, albeit he was part of the Board that made too many poor manager appointments. That will inevitably overshadow the good stuff they did elsewhere.

However, the allegations of bullying by some WST bigwigs are out with that praise, but probably will not now be investigated — Pritti ain’t the only one to get away with it — which was one of the previous WST chairman’s failings.

PS I did raise the requirement for a paid CEO at a WST meeting some years ago, but Spencer stated it wasn’t affordable or necessary; presumably because he thought he could do the important full time role himself. That was a mistake. However, I am unsure what quality of CEO we would have attracted on the likely low salary. Anyway, water under the bridge, and time to move on.

PPS I personally think there is a role for Spencer within the ‘new WST’. He has talent and ability but, sadly, those managerial appointments will always be an albatross around his neck.

"Like him or loathe him, Spencer is one of the few willing to participate with fans and members"

Like the day he came down into the Centenary Club after Hughes' sacking and was told in no uncertain terms that the return of Keates would be very unpopular with the majority of fans.

Hats off to him as it showed a level of courage to put himself in front of the fans as he did that day, but it was clear from the onset he had no intention of actually listening to what they had to say.

So maybe his participation with fans was always more about self promotion, than cooperation.

I was there that day. He was clearly confident that reappointing Keates was the best option. I was not convinced but willing to give him a chance.

Keates had his chance and was proven to be not good enough. Spencer backed the wrong horse, probably because Keates was deemed to be cheap and safe.

It still took balls to come down that day and on numerous other occasions.

Is this the same guy who was so loved by Wrexham fans that he required security just to watch matches?

I think that says more about some people’s inability to control their emotions than the guy who felt he needed protection.
I’m no fan of his, I’m hardly up to speed with the inner workings of the WST either, but the fact remains that the WST got us there in the end. I have been calling for change at the top too, but not for blood as some people seem to be doing, sadly.
It served its purpose & successfully negotiated with what could turn out to be a great pair of owners.
People aren’t even permitted to say a simple ‘thank you’ without being shouted down by what amounts to a mob on here at times.
Even in victory we can’t even celebrate, either at the WST’s demise or a possible dream ticket of owners.
How long will people give them before they start telling them that they’re doing it all wrong & they need protection in the stand.

Sashay in here, bathed in wonderment, and not a single thread of recognition. I wonder why.

The actual process of this takeover has gone extremely smoothly. Considering who was involved. The credit for this has to go to the intermediaries and Spencer Harris (and the board). When the intermediaries stepped aside, the process progressed to direct contact between R+R and Spencer (and the board ). As is evident this was successful. More than that, this was a blinding result - could be the best result in our history. So why no recognition for the person who was heavily involved in achieving this?

Go back a while to when Spencer (and the board ) rejected (rightly ) another tin pot offer to buy the club. Again, from chancers with mixed motives and no money, riding on the back of fans discontent. And yes, the wailing on here was unbelievable and then you realise the meaning of the name of the country.

Turns out, in the grand scheme of things, that the WST were fine (and brave) custodians of the club.

Ok, we've had to endure friggin awful, mind numbing, soul destroying football - the direct result of utterly incomprehensible managerial appointments (budget apparently - they were (are) dirt cheap).
Got that badly wrong. Instead of paying hefty wages to disinterested journeyman players we should have chucked it all at getting a decent manager.

And yet, when Hollywood cast an eye, the WST was able to offer a club unencumbered by debt, operating at break-even (more or less ) and with a lengthy lease on the oldest international football ground in the world.

These must have been factors in R+R's decision to buy the club.
They are walking in with a clean slate.
They don't have to deal with financial mess left by previous incumbents.
They don't have to waste money clearing debt.

For this, and the handling of the process, the WST deserves credit.

I agree. Now let's move on.

The OP wasn’t a simple thank you though was it?

Very eager to see the ever resourceful ways of moaning some on here will find when we're sitting comfortably in League 1 in a couple seasons.

We came so close to not having a club at all, the club was saved by the supporters who have been running it as volunteers ever since doing the best job they can (for free). Said club has now been bought by 2 Hollywood stars with the resources to employ the 'right' people to take care of the football side of things and the sleeping giant stirs.

Positivity People.
