I think the original barriers were tube steel without supports and come the days of testing structures they would have been replaced by the ones now being cut down.

I am not entirely sure of that so old photos would need to verify that - and - of course - if the old concrete had signs of patching.

It will be really interesting when the bank is removed to see what lies beneath ! Anyone got a metal detector?

Have checked my old pictures and in 1960 the kop barriers were of the old tubular style and it it those that are the true heritage items for collectors
They must have been replaced when the ground was improved in the 1970s

My first memories of the Racecourse, would be as a kid late 50s, swinging like a monkey on the Kop barriers
They were individually spaced out, and definitely not the ones they're taking down now.

I just about remember the small stand above it. Bushfield ?? Apparently seats came from the old Majestic cinema which closed in 1960. Now Spoons I think.

Special treat was to pay another shilling or something like that, to go up in the Bushfield and make a load of noise kicking the front panels

I never went in the 'loft'. Didn't have the extra shilling and it didn't look very safe

That stand you could only see the tech end if you sat in the first 2 rows!!! Piece of engineering culpability there.
