wrexham 7 rotherham 1, 22 april 1978, my big bullying brother (man u fan) told me Wrexham doesnt want promotion, few pints in the crosville club, does anyone remember that, dirt cheap wxm lager and a fantastic punk/new wave juke box, into the ground 5-0 half time, what a fantastic day, we were awesome then, why cant we be that again

The 92/93 promotion season was brilliant as a youngster stood on the Kop. Every time Gary Bennett was through on goal you knew he would score. If we were struggling, Bennett would either dive and get us a penalty or Flynn would bring super-sub John Paskin off the bench for the last 15 minutes. Aside from that, the FA Cup wins against Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough and Lee Trundle’s debut where he scored a hat trick against Oxford United including lobbing the keeper from the halfway line. Great times.

Great days - of course 7-1 Rotherham and Arsenal. Those great cup games against Newcastle and Bristol City.
Bad Days - 14.05.77 0-1 vs Mansfield sat on the kop crying my eyes out. 3.4.78 losing at home to Chester on my 18th Birthday. I was so fed up and went home to bed and missed my surprise party in the Rock at Lloc !
One game - i cannot now remember who when i got the crowd spot on at 2,222 !

On of the worst winters in memory, we didn't play again for weeks.
Can you imagine that game going ahead in this day and age? The snow on the kop was so bad many of the visitors relieved where they stood rather than try to reach the bogs.
As you say 20K supporters all mixed up and no trouble.
That was my first big game. My mum wouldn't let me go to the Man Unt in 57.

That was the the game the kids got lifted over the wall Yale side and sat on the pitch just back of the touchline.

Fondest memory on the kop....
V crystal palace in that game....
The 2 or 3 minutes of elation from our equaliser meaning we had achieved the promised land..we were there..no more from the old man .."they dont want to go up, can't afford"
We had arrived......then palace scored twice..

The league cup v liverpool...when dalglish scored I think a hat trick...
All of a sudden a gap appeared under the busfield..some scousers o the kop...then someone ran fwd and gave the scouser a Glasgow kiss right over the head with a bottle of wine..
As mentioned mark hughes goal v spain...
I saw the corner being taken..I saw mark hughes mid air swivlining then a blur and the ball back of the net .

Aforementioned palace game one of the group was late arriving..came through crispin lane turnstile...unbeknown to him with 3 or 4 palace fans..who set upon him..
Half way through first half realised they were 9n kop 7 or 8 steps in front of us....they didnt stay there long..

Final memory and can still see it now...the length of time crossbar vibrates and shook after Graham whittle's free kick in the very last game that season...v mansfield
