Same as Rutherford, one good assist in a run of poor games, and people get on their high horse cracking out the "I told you so" narrative.
Yep.. Sums it up nicely. Don't really see all the fuss about criticising a player having a bad performance. I don't agree with calling them out over social media etc (like what happened with Neco Williams) but I'm quite happy to praise when deserved and criticise in equal measure. Our expectations are far too low.

Dibble did play well under difficult circumstances, and he's done that before.

BUT

I was alarmed by how poor he got last year, it was definitely confidence ebbing away but the speed in which it happened and the result of it in his performances suggests he's not the answer. Lainton is great but we have the resources to have a number 2 who is good enough to be pushing for his place, Dibble isn't.

Didn’t seem to have limited ability against a decent side on Saturday did he? Maybe you could try giving the lad a chance for a change.

If he did well on saturday he did well on saturday, it doesn't change the previous abominations and will need to do well over a longer period of time for that narrative to have meaning.

He had his chance last season and crumbled, he was one of the main reason we spent most of the season in a relegation battle until the coronavirus saved us. #Fact

Ever heard of turning the corner? Maybe he won’t but I say let’s see.

If Lainton is going to be out for 2+ games as expected we need to look at a short term loan. Last season he made one mistake against Fylde and his head fell off, giving away important goals in multiple games. If we're serious about giving it a go this year then I don't think we can afford to be sentimental, think we did Dibble a favour just by giving him a contract this year.

Fylde was the tip of the iceberg. He had cost us plenty before that, including loads of little errors that probably went unnoticed. He started upgrading to dropping the ball of catches then we ended up with the crescendo of Hughes's tenure at Fylde.

I agree though, would love to see somebody justify how he managed to snaffle a contract. Appreciate it doesn't go along with some of the nonsense I have read on here or Twitter about his performance, but we really have to do better with recruitment.

You were probably one of the ones saying the same about Coughlin, did he turn the corner? What level is he playing at? Worrying thing is Coughlin had more talent......
