Getting ahead of ourselves, in what sense ?

Some of the comments on here, based on one semi decent performance, are basically forgetting the bulk of the evidence as to his ability is that he isn't very good.

Using it as an excuse to gloat and call out those who didn't want his contract to be renewed.

He played very well under the circumstances on Saturday. And to be honest, if he is going to be in goal for the next few games, i hope he plays very well consistently!

But hearing his name on the teamsheet doesn't fill me with confidence now. He isn't in the Xavi Valero level just yet so there is a glimmer of hope!

Christian looked potentially decent when he first got in the team. He looked to have all the physical attributes necessary, and didn't looked overly nervous for such a young, inexperienced keeper. I also liked the fact that he was in to actually catching the ball -unlike many of his peers!. He seemed to be progressing well with a short run in the side, but then got that injury (his back, I think?), and didn't look quite the same when he got the odd game here and there afterwards.

Yeah, he's dropped one or two bollocks - and naturally, those will stick in fans' minds - but I've got a feeling he might well end up making a few people eat their words.

He’s 26 now and hardly played a game until last season and is clearly happy to mooch around on the bench at a conference club, I appreciate that goalkeepers enter their prime a little bit later but trust me he will not be making me eat any words.

If he's such a precious sensitive soul that he crumbles at the first hint of stick from fans, home or away, then he's clearly not up to being a professional footballer. You read some things on here when people go scraping that barrel for excuses.
Not blaming fans but offering a potential reason why his performances dropped off last season. He was able to play without the pressure of getting stuck. He got over the goal he conceded on Saturday and played well after. In previous times he would have had fans on his back, reminding him of the goal and other errors. However at the weekend he put it behind him and played well. I would like to see you try and do your job at the top of your abilities with a crowd of people watching and the atmosphere being one of trepidation or apprehension. As soon as you set foot into work. Negativity feeds and gathers momentum. Players rarely perform well when being targeted. Simple psychology says that stress will impede your ability not perform. You regularly hear top players being taken out of the firing line as their convince is shot.

If so, that is absolutely ridiculous. You even go on to suggest he wouldnt make those simple saves, and it would be the fault of the fans due to this fictional booing.

Seriously?
I didn't mention boo, but there would have been comments. Just read the live match thread when Lainton got injured and after the Bromley goal. It is naive to believe that no abuse would have been directed at Dibble.
