Don’t forget Brian Lloyd came from Southend as well, even though he was from ‘up here’.

Whilst on the Steve Ingle tribute :-
I used to enjoy a pint with Steve,Ian Moir, and Les Jones(ex Chester) in Jazz Club,Chester on Monday nights in the late 60s.
Steve liked Gareth Davies a lot, and would ‘look after’ him when Gareth was finding his way in the game.
He told me a story of how,in an away match at Brentford, the home team’s ‘hard man’ (wish I could remember his name ) had ‘done one’ on Gareth and almost broke his leg.
Steve said he ‘put him right’. He didn’t go near Gareth again !

RIP Steve.

The back four, if I remember correctly from my first game, was Steve Ingle, Gareth Davis, Eddie May and Alan Bermingham.. in my mind all legends. At that time we also had Arfon Griffiths in midfield and my schoolboy hero, Albert Kinsey, partnered with Ray Smith up front. The amazing Ian Moir on the wing and I think midfield was supported by Terry Bradbury and Bobby Park. 1960s football may have been different than todays game but that team had character and has obviously left lasting memories (albeit if not 100% correct after 50+ years of supporting Wrexham!).

So sad to see we are losing some great Wrexham players and servants to the club.
Steve came from Southend bought by Alvin Williams along with so other greats.
The 60’s and 70’s were certainly good exciting times.
RIP Steve

I seem to recall Steve playing as an emergency centre forward v Aston Villa at home in the third division (1970/71) due to an injury crisis. Possibly same match as Gaskell was injured. Anyone else remember? Let's say he was a much better right back. RIP Steve.

I remember Mickey Evans taking over in goal in that match. Andy Lochead had clobbered Dave Gaskell. Don’t remember Steve going up front, but wouldn’t doubt it.

I have to admire you supporters who went to away games in the fifties and sixties. It must have been a lot more difficult than nowadays. You must have some great memories, especially watching Steve at Old Trafford.
RIP Steve.
