I think losing this job will do him the world of good. If he could bag a job in the backroom staff of an FL team then I think he'd be alright, he's just not a manager

He's got to say that hasn't he; although my recollection was that he was referring to 'staff' e.g. Geraint Parry, Kerry DLO, Club Shop. He then went on to talk about expanding that team to cope with demand.

He's hardly going to say "They're shit" is he!?

He'll know they're nowhere near good enough, and once the takeover is confirmed they'll be relieved of their duties with a statement along the lines of "Going in a different direction/fresh start/should be in a better position/thank them for their service/wish them all the best for the future..."

Deep down though he knows they're a dreadfully incompetent management team.
