Is this the same WST who sat on their hands on bond day? The ones who did the same with the land behind the Kop? Wasted millions on some bizarre decisions with not a hint of remorse?
:
A former WST board member has gone public on Spencer resignation, the comment as negative as they come. That along with other stories about him and it's hardly surprising the reaction.

Same board member said Keates coming back was one of many reasons for his resignation.

Even more bizarre is it's taken ping pong gate to see him get sacked with immediate effect.

Until R&R takeover and we see how they start gong about things it is difficult to form a real view on many issues posters are getting would up about.

I have been a severe and consistent critic of SH and his mates but I agree 100% vile abuse is not required. It poisons the atmosphere and actually tends to achieve very little change as we have seen over the years of WST ownership.

That said, SH (and his mates) does have a history of misleading fans so some people will be suspicious that this is a smoke screen.

I agree with you on his effort and commitment but he was a major part of a failing organisation so like the curates egg he was good in parts.

If the R&R takeover proves successful he deserves full credit and kudos.

If R&R want him then that is down to them but if they struggle to deliver it will be a harder slog to keep fans onside if Spencer is heavily involved. If SH is on board and R&R deliver no one will care I suspect.

It would be better for him to retire with full honours because for me his abilities have been vastly over-rated, especially by himself, so on balance I would prefer not to see him involved as he is divisive figure which is the last thing we want to start the new reign. However, that is not down to me or RP posters so is irrelevant.

Your comments on wising up are arrogant but frankly irrelevant. It is the future that matters and failure to understand that, leading to lack of vision, was a large part in poor performance under the WST.

Let's put the past behind and move forward.

Default Re: Spencer Harris resigns - effective end of Jan

It seems to be becoming alarmingly clear this deal has only gone ahead- forgetting the 11 other deals we weren't told about - so Spencer Harris could get pally with a couple of Hollywood star's and to get his mug on the telly.

I think it's fair to say we can start seeing where things went wrong under fan ownership. For the few not the many.

It seems reasonable to state that a football club is bigger than any one individual!

11 other “deals”?

In my opinion there was no meaningful interest. Certainly sufficient interest to pay to consult with supporters so I’d rather you took the “11 other deals” off the table when you’re booting the Trust.

Frankly, the Trust haven’t covered themselves with glory regarding football decisions but they’ve preserved a club worthy to pass on. I wish they’d done more but they haven’t. The Trust had a huge opportunity with the Ward money but didn’t spend wisely.

The remit of the Trust was never to whore the club out and thankfully they didn’t.

They've ruined the club, let's be honest, from top to bottom.

The only positive was that they left us debt free but at what cost?

It's like a household refusing to go into the red when the roofs leaking, the front door's hanging off and have no food in the fridge. At that point you need to see what you can do to improve your situation, the Wst didn't.

That, FWIW, is my opinion, too.

He worked long and hard but, at the end of the day, was part of an organization that ultimately failed to deliver. The managerial cock-ups were the main factors, but there were others.

I hope he continues to attend the games, but also hope R&R are wise enough to not have Spencer or any other WST board members involved post take-over. We need a clean start.
