I'd like to know why the other deals didn't progress and as I've suspected for a while. It's a case of who R&R are particular for Spencer Harris & Gavin Jones, anybody else and they'd still be clinging on.
Perhaps the other 11 times the club has been approached, they have all been from chancers and property developers, but I do think every approach should have been in the public domain. Not who but what they were offering and a full business plan presented. Most were obviously a load of crap but I think this distrust started with the majority of fans when rumours of such things go around the supporter base.

Would it always have happened with a prolonged spell of balancing the books and little success or is it mostly to do with the attitude and personality and demeanour of those in charge? Maybe a bit of both but the latter has sped up the demise
Lot of fair comment from Ben and Alan. The decline of the club started 40 years ago. Far too many on here trying to blame the WST for everything in that time.

Poor football decisions in the last three years have undermined the WST, remind me again who was in charge of football ? If he turns up under the new regime there will be meltdown on here.

Surely it was the entire board who were in charge of football? There seem to be a fair few previously-loyal WST fans turning on Spencer. (Is that who you meant?)

The trust has flipped full circle. It used to be chancers and property developers who were distrusted. Now it’s the supporters!

Spencer Harris hasn't been described as a 'snake' for no good reason.
Everyone’s a bloody snake these days, GGG!

I would say the other bids haven’t progressed for a number of reasons. The main ones for me would be the prospective purchasers not wanting to pay to consult with the supporters. I don’t know that for a fact; much like your conjecture.

The main people describing him as a snake seem to be those wedded to the idea of fans ownership, and the terrible board over the last few years. While I haven't been a fan of Spencer's, when people like that are criticising him it's practically a character reference!

That's surely oversimplifying/ignoring things? The Trust board lied about knowing about loans to the club. They made accusations that the people putting forward the second platform motion had got things wrong, but never backed the accusations up. They didn't act on either the second platform motion or the shadowing motion promptly. Those are just a few of the reasons I can see why people would distrust them!

It was very much a “pinch of salt” comment.

The main problem with the WST was that they became obsessed with their new found power and it went to their heads

It was their dream job. Where else can you have a hand in the day to day running of a professional club that you support ?

This then turned into a poisonous obsession. They weren't acting professionally (as they are amateurs playing at it) and this resulted in bad decision making, constant leaks of confidential information, back stabbing and resignations.

Others joined to take their place and the cycle started all over again until we ended up with this shell of a club which was once something to be proud of

I'm praying that R&R come in and restore the club to its rightful place and make it something we can all be proud of again
