Re: Local guy ready for return to management
Mark Hughes proved to be tactically inept as a national manager. Has a patchy record at a higher club level. Cowley Brothers for me. Their coaching and preparation before matches by all accounts seems first class. Moreover, they have a proven record in the lower echelons of football backed up by a very good knowledge of players.

Re: Local guy ready for return to management
I haven't a Scoobie who, if anyone, R&R have authorized to become our new manager, but I find some of the comments rather amusing, if not ridiculous.
Do we want someone who knows the NL like the back of his hand -- probably because that's all he knows -- or someone who has been very successful, has contacts and can kick start the revival we all need and want? If it's Sparky, then great. He has the connections -- both local and at Man Utd etc -- and the experience of managing at the highest levels against some of the best teams in the world. Keeping Stoke in the Premiership was no mean feat. If it's the Cowleys, then equally great. They have a knowledge of this level but, more importantly, have demonstrated the ability to get into the EFL and progress. Their work at Lincoln is exactly what we need, plus they would be good in front of the camera. We could, of course, always keep Keates and Co; hopefully, Peter Moore would have insisted their time is up. But we shall see... TOMORROW!

You only have to think back to Sven-Göran Eriksson's appointment at Notts County to see the folly of such a move, although he was director of football rather than manager. I'd rather we aimed for someone capable of getting us perhaps two leagues ahead at this point. In fact, one would be nice for the time being given how long it's taking to get out of this league!

Re: Local guy ready for return to management
Hughes has been nowhere to be seen for a couple of years so to get his face on FF is a sure sign he's ready to step back in very soon.
Likely he's getting himself out there so that Premier League Chairmen are aware of his availability Stranger things have happened (Ryan & Rob owning Wrexham FC for starters) and he doesn't need the money on offer at the top level but can't see Mark Hughes managing us no matter what we offer him |
