Wonder if this news has delayed the announcement?

I highly doubt it would be enough to curtail the bid. Zoom meetings on Wednesday apparently with the NL clubs to discuss

Total mess. The National League shafted a number of clubs including Wrexham with the October allocation. Now the Government have shafted the National League.

Clubs will be very divided on what to do now and it is going to get very bitter and acrimonious. I would end the season now as I think it is the fairest thing to do for most clubs. Why would clubs take on a loan when they can get more through furlough. Only the wealthy with a chance of going up will want to carry on. Does this now include Wrexham ?

This sounds really grim

Why on earth did the NL not seek assurances clubs would recieve grants to last the season?

Can’t see the league continuing. It needs clarification ASAP.

I really can't see the season running to completion now. It will probably be stopped in the next week or so until the new season starts in August. The government dangled the carrot of grants to keep the club's plodding along this season, only to have that carrot taken away to be replaced by a pot of £12million loans. I can't see many clubs wanting to take on loans that coud result in the club's being swamped by debt that could endanger their survival. I think the footy will stop soon unfortunately.

I suppose it depends on the term of the loan. Would £250k keep each team going until the end of the season? Over the course of 10 years, it’s the cost of a squad player.

However, the alternative of whacking everyone on furlough and retaining your league status is much more appealing (maybe not for Torquay fans).

Yes I agree, I'm sure many would prefer to cut their losses this season and furlough players.

If it's 11 million, that means £450k per club

So if it's at the same terms as the bounce back loan that'll be annual repayment terms of around £90-115k a year for six years. So the cost of three to four players a year. Cue joke about the wst hiring managers.
