Saw him one night in the Ruthin Castle in Mold and had to bring up the goal at Anfield. He was really modest and seemed genuinely taken aback that people still remembered it. Cracking player in a good side - RIP Ray.

Without doubt, one of my favourite footballers to put on the red of Wrexham.one of my everlasting memories apart from his goal at Anfield was to take time of work and travel up to Workington in 1967.Standing on the Workington Kop I shouted “Come on Smithy”. before Kick Off.His face was a picture looking to see who had shouted. We lost 2-0 and they made sure that Brian Tinnion did not see the 90 minutes through.

Yeh he worked as a postman in mold lot of my mates worked with him, really down to earth bloke
