Couldn't agree more with this. The time's iv walked out of the Racecourse and said never again and the time's iv walked out full of pride. Today's players are not fit to tie Ray Smiths boot lases.

Been on Google. put Liverpool v Wrexham in. On the second page, some way down, is a site called Pinterest....
There"s a photo of Ray's goal there..I swear he:s feet are 3 feet off the ground..

A really good striker and very physical. I have a memory of a chester game at the racecourse where he was giving Carling the Chester keeper a really hard time. So much so that Carling threw the ball at him. Ray just trotted away and carried on giving him a hard time.

One of my favorite memories was not so much a goal but a save he forced a keeper into...
League cup late 60s away to man utd....
Game in which Mickey Evan's marked george best out of the game...
Wxm attacking the stretford end cross came in Ray Smith met it with his head....and did as forwards were told headed it down....as a goal all the way...only for alex stepney to pull off a miraculous save...
