1978, the 6-1 v Tranmere closely followed by a 2-0 over Bradford City.
The rest is a blur after that, as they came thick and fast.
Great memories of our four years in what’s now the Championship.
Some good times since, in Europe and in the Cups, and a couple of promotions.

I first started going in 1956 with my Dad, we used to get the train from Shotton and I used to stand in the Boys Pen. The first FA Cup game that I can remember is against Reading which ended in a draw before we won the replay.

Mine was in 92 I think it was, it was against Rochdale and we won 2-1 I was 10 years old and I've been going ever since, my first away games were in that fabulous cup run in the mid 90's when we beat Peterborough, West ham, Birmingham etc, dad took me to every away game in the cup with one of my mates, don't get to many away ones now because of work but have only missed a handful of home games since I started going back in 92

As for football. Some of the team were part timers but were lions compared to the apologies that wear the shirt today. The club was run by volunteers who also ran their own businesses. They were not self publicists but and even then took some stick when the team didn't perform well. However some were a different class when it came to keeping the club on the straight and narrow.

Must have been around the time the club was founded in 1864
