Club Statement - "NATIONAL LEAGUE VOTE"
Macclesfield Town POSTED:WED 17 FEB 2021 AUTHOR:WREXHAM AFC The Club has been approached by numerous individuals from the National League and the FA, with regard to our stated position of abstaining in the vote to determine whether the three Vanarama National League divisions should continue. The decision to abstain was made by the Board of the Wrexham Supporters Trust, but with the full support of the new owners. The reason behind the decision to abstain was simple, in that, the Club was excluded from any offer of financial support from the Sports Winter Survival Package for National League Clubs, and the Club was being asked to consider the same proposals as the other 65 Clubs, but on a different basis. The Club position was, and remains, that it does not want to impose our view on others, on a matter where all Clubs are not being treated equally. The obvious disparity of the Club's treatment has been recognised by the National League and the Welsh Government. The Government have since been in touch with the Club to gain a greater understanding of the issue and to see if they can provide some equivalent financial support. On this basis alone, the decision to make our ‘abstention’ stance public, has raised the profile of the Club’s treatment, in a way that will hopefully prevent the unfairness of the situation arising again. The Club has identified that we can, in fact, vote in favour of Resolution 1, which allows each of the three National League Divisions to decide their own future, and remain consistent with our original position by allowing the other 65 clubs to consider the matter on an equivalent basis. The Club has now voted in favour of Resolution 1 but will maintain its position of abstaining on the other Resolutions. It is our hope that the National League (Step 1) season continues and our new owners have committed to meeting the costs of the Club without any guarantee of external support, notwithstanding our view that all Clubs should be treated equally. We await the outcome of our fellow Clubs’ deliberations with interest. |

Re: Club Statement - "NATIONAL LEAGUE VOTE"
Good to see the new Board continue to advise the fans on these sort of issues — I don’t expect them to tell us everything, by the way!
Furthermore, it also seems sensible to modify their initial vote. Just hope the result of this discussion is made public soon and, subsequently, how the NL intend to deal with the Dover situation.

Re: Club Statement - "NATIONAL LEAGUE VOTE"
I would have thought the Welsh Govt should have been responsible to see that Wrexham should have been included in the share allocated to Welsh Clubs. I think this was a clear oversight. Cardiff, Swansea and Newport all benefited from the Premier League allocation of cash to help them through the season. It looks as if our cash has already been allocated to other clubs or sports in Wales. It has been indicated by a few on here that R&R did not want the cash and are not bothered. From this statement, it does not seem to be the case but are at least asking that we are treated equally nothing more nothing less.

Re: Club Statement - "NATIONAL LEAGUE VOTE"
The suggestion on The Harriers Fans Site is that just 7 clubs wish to continue League North but 15 wish to abandon the season.
With no money coming in there is also a suggestion that it is illegal to trade if you are basically insolvent. The votes are more evenly split in National League South |

Re: Club Statement - "NATIONAL LEAGUE VOTE"
No, you read it has I did. The difference is that there has been a number of posters on here on other threads indicating that R&R had given the impression they are not interested in any financial help. Whether they do want financial help or not it is clear from this statement that they are asking for fairness.
