Aldershot Match Ratings

Dean Keates 0

He picks the side. He perseveres with certain players that have huge deficiencies in their games. He puts a left back and right back in midfield and plays 3 at the back with only 2 fit centre halves.

Keates out.

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Yep. Get him out so the new guy can have a good look round and prep for next season. Been saying it for months. I do not want another wasted season where we keep Keates, sack him November then spend half a season with a new manager sorting his own team/staff out.

Agreed. Dibble hasn't been bad replacing lainton until today but that was always going to happen. Keates needs to go but that second half performance was pathetic, the players need to take a long look at themselves too!

I think we didn’t take control of the football enough during the football match. It’s not good enough for the football club.

Aldershot had a make shift defence .Centre Half making his debut and all the others playing out of position. WE Scored 0 against them!.
Dribble is guaranteed to make these errors sometime during the season not good enough for a team pushing for promotion. However the rest of the team were no better apart from the occasional flashes..They are inconsistent and that's why we are non league side.
Change the manager and plan for next seadon

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Dibble 1 - at fault for one and possible two goals
French 2 - missed a golden opportunity header to make it 1-0, other wise just hoofed it
Kelleher 4 - head and hoof
Carrington 1 - lost the ball for their second goal, should have stopped their third
Horsfield 2 - nothing constructive whatsoever
Hall Johnson 2 - crossing was appalling
Reckord 2 - crossing was appalling
Young 4 - something but not much
Davies 4 - faffed about some good passes but not enough
Angus 3 - three good chances, three fluffs
Thomas 3 - won plenty of headers but they went nowhere
Subs
Jarvis 5 - should have started, tried to be creative
Durrell 3 - gets a 3 for his shot that hit the bar, without that would have been 1
Ponticelli 1 - did he touch the ball?

It was excellent and the pre match build up was decent.

Ddraigoch 20th February 2021 16.08:18

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Dibble 3 - the defence is nervous every time the ball is near him

French 5 - his worst game in a Wrexham shirt
Kelleher 5 - ditto - they couldn’t pass to each other
Carra 6 - the only one who looked capable at the back

RHJ 4 - was he playing?
Young 4 - just couldn’t stem the tide
Horsfield 4 - not good enough
Davies 7 - about the only one who turned up
Reckord 4 - the best left back in the league my a*se

Angus 5 - had some decent chances but fluffed his lines
Thomas 4 - was he playing

Subs
Jarvis 6 - did more in 20 minutes than some of them in 90
Redmond
Rutherford
Durrell 5 - their defender who had been on for 78 minutes passed him as if he wasn’t there. - then he goes and hits the bar, frustrating
Ponticelli not on long enough

Keates arguing with the ref again. Carra or Kelleher shown a yellow card at the end

full of promise going into the game
2 Angus chances and good play early
too much hoof ball - poss cos the pitch was bad
2 bizarre goals - Dibble ans ? French went for the cross , so cannot totally blame Dibs, yes he should control his area.
2nd goal-wicked deflection
by then probably heads gone
when we played it on ground we did better
3rd goal was poor defending.
Of course many will say it is all Keates fault. 1loss in 7 is Keates fault. yes as fans we are up and we are down depending on results. We are all hurting tonight.

dibbs 5 - some great saves later

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Dibble (5) At fault for their first, and wrong-footed for the second. Despite all that, still not the worst player by a long way.

Hall-Johnson (5) struggled to make an impact.

French (5) Looked a bit ragged at times.

Kelleher (4) Slow and ponderous.

Carrington (6) Best of a bad lot.

Reckord (3) Not at the races.

Young (3) Anonymous. Not good enough.

Horsfield (4) Struggled.

Davies (6) Our best player but had to drop deeper and deeper to cover the others.

Thomas (5) Tried hard but lacks ability.

Angus (5) Has ability but fluffed too many chances today. At least he gets into scoring positions.

Subs:

Jarvis (7) Looked our best player, yet bozo has him on the bench.

Durrell (1) One good shot, but otherwise looks as if he has escaped from a Tellytubby adventure show.

Ponticelli (3) Never got in the game.

Aldershot were pretty poor, but we were shockingly bad. Keates is a bottler who must be shown the door asap.

Another great opportunity to progress is wasted, and we look as meek as lambs to the slaughter.:(

We had decent phases of play and tried to work through the lines but they set traps which we ultimately fell for and it’s all the refs fault as it was raining.

Most deserved 2/10. Keates 0/10. It really was that bad because Aldershot were a poor side.

Keates blaming the ref was laughable and evidence of his desperation to deflect attention from his own inadequacies.

So many players anonymous, I think after this many games I'd like to see Davies controlling a game but it's just neat touches here and there, tbh the midfield 3 just didn't work, and bringing Horsfield for Jarvis was a strange one. I thought RHJ was doing ok and looked our only outlet, then he was taken off

Agree Harris was missed. Clearly Horsfield in CM does not work. Davies may yet, but I still think LWB works best for him, and also means that cretin Rekord can then be dropped forever.

Agree re Carrington, but its hard to criticise a player when they are totally out of position. Just look at the bench today, to see what a mess the squad is in.

Everything about the football side at the club is a complete shambles . .Its up to the new owners to sort it out and I am sure they will .Until Keates and Co are well gone nothing will change .The players dont know what position and task they are to perform and the coaching must be non existent. .
I cant see the new owners putting up with this much longer Keates must be pleased that fans are not allowed in games as the abuse he would be getting would be deafening.

What exactly is Carrington's position? Like many, I've been watching him for years and I'm still non the wiser. Another one who needs to be thanked for his efforts, but ultimately needs to be moved on.

Keates has just said in the interview that the ref should have given us 3 penalties. Imagine thinking that's an excuse, we lost because we didn't get 3 penalties. I can't think of a single contentious decision the ref made. Keates is a clown.

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Dibble-3
killed us dead. Had the better chances first half and then he drops a dolly. Sunday league stuff.

JR-5 not bad at times. Didn't offer much.
RHJ-6 always a threat but needs more composure at times.
FK-5 his worst game for the club for me.
French-4 his worst game too. Looked all over the place. Missed a sitter.
Carra-3 this ridiculous experiment needs to end. Fannied out of a tackle and then turned his back for second and ran ragged for the third. Distribution horrific.

Horsfield-3 nothing. Just nothing.
Davies-5 OK
Young-5 ok

DA-5 looks a threat again but radar well off today
KT-6 won his headers, but service was poor.

Plan today looked like it was to go long with the pitch being so poor and conditions tricky. Fine by me(we did the same vs Sutton) .... But going long from the centre halves doesn't work. Carra can't use his left foot so it's useless from his side and French was reluctant to do it. Kelleher can't do it with any quality. It's too straight and almost impossible for a striker to deal with. Needed to come from wider, but we played wing backs so it didn't work at all.
I'd have played a 4-3-3 today. Gone long from a wider and deeper position and got bodies around Kwarme and played the football from their final third. The few times we did get them turned early on, they shit themselves.
Hard to legislate your keeper dropping one like that mind.

Liverpool Red 21st February 2021 02.38:00

Re: Aldershot Match Ratings

Good point. Playing 352, you would think the plan would be to get it wide and attack the full backs. But no, our coaching team order our centre-half’s to bypass midfield and launch it forward to Kwarme. If we were going to do that, why bother playing wingbacks. Keates and co are clueless and must go immediately.
