Don't forget everything points toward Carl Darlington's wage being subsidised by the FAW Trust. If they went through with it as suggested by Gavin Jones, I'd bet that's part of the reason.

Easy,Would work with Carl Darlington, Would have total control over the running of first team, when the board asked his permission about hiring Brian Flynn to be director of football he told the board where to go. He was interviewed by Carl and Pete and apparently got the position as he was the only one who guaranteed promotion, apparently the other candidates wanted to bring in there own coaching staff, which did not go down to well with Carl. To see how much power this guy has just look at the way he got rid of Joey Jones.
