Cheap and couldn’t be bothered finding a proper appointment. See Barrow and Hughes. The last time I truly believe they looked properly for a manager was when they appointed Ricketts.

Thank god those days are now history. Can’t wait for us to appoint this CEO and see his plans.

The Board hired Keates, and the WST did not hold them to account for doing so.

Spot on. The WST board ratified the appointment.

When you look back at the chain of events. It was the WST board that voted for Hughes sacking.
To allow Keates re appointment was a dereliction of duty.

If only DK showed some of the guts, that he had as a player, in management, then we might be more motivated but he seems scared of being positive.
The sooner he's relieved of his duties, the better.

I cannot for the life of me understand why Keates is so timid as a manager. That is one of his many short fallings, along with his inability to adapt quickly.

It is easy to single out Spencer Harris for Keates' reappointment, but it was a collective decision, and any dissent was seemingly stifled. If Keates was the stand out candidate, I seriously despair for the application process we adopted.

Dixie McNeil was either very unwise to get embroiled in the process or he was a poor judge of character. Nevertheless, the onus was on both Boards; they clearly failed to do their respective jobs and were deservedly criticised.

Doesn’t JH’s tweet suggest they weren’t allowed to stop/question it?

The football club board had a degree of autonomy but the trust board sacked the manager or insisted he was sacked.
The trust board appointed the FC board so the power is with them. In other words if the FC board go rouge they could be deselected.

Why did the FC board request the trust board to ratify the decision if their opinion was worthless?

Wasn't the Trust board made up mainly of the FC board? Hard to see how they'd deselect themselves. (Not 100% sure as I may be misremembering numbers, though!) As far as I can tell, the joint members of both boards sound like they steamrolled over the people like JH who were opposed to, or at least dubious about, the appointment.

Being honest I'd rather look to the end of Keates' time here.

Until he's gone this club can't start to progress in any meaningful way on the field. I expect it will be the CEO who will get rid so this has to come first, hopefully in very short order.

Yup, people like to forget this. JH also didn't want Keates because so much of the fan base didn't want him including members. While those like JH tried to represent the members at all times, others liked spending other people's money knowing they're wouldn't be consequences. Ł10k on flames in the tunnel or spend it to make sure toilets are clean and have hot water, tough decision that one.

I mean a group of bricklayers couldn't do it, so what chance do a few actors have? Then someone will pipe up about money, but so far they've spent no more money than the trust ever had and things are improving drastically.
