Not sure how Keates actually got a red there. My only thoughts would be the ref didn’t have a clue and just sent them both off - strange nothing happened to the Eastleigh player...

Why the Eastleigh player goes over there in the first place makes no sense when it's our throw in. And it's their manager that deserves a red not the assistant and he's the one that runs over and grabs hold of Keates, and then everyone gets involved. Keates didn't deserve a red, and if it means a touchline ban then we should easily win the appeal.

I’ve always held the view that if you go into the opposing team’s technical area you should receive a yellow card. Watch how the Eastleigh bench all pile in to get a piece of the action. If they won’t give the ball back, then the 4th official should retrieve it or the manager should be yellow carded. It would stop all of the handbags on the bench.

Careful. You and Creighton are on dodgy ground using such a phrase. I'm sure some of the super sensitive pc brigade on here will confirm this, or you could ask BBC commentator Steve Thompson.

Agree about the handbags comments, but Steve Thompson probably crossed the line by saying they were ‘better off wearing skirts’.

Quote:
Thompson, 65, was temporarily dropped by the BBC after making three sexist comments in 20 minutes during Lincoln City’s game with Accrington Stanley last month.

During the unfortunate broadcast he suggested that a “drama queen” player would be “better wearing a skirt”, and described a scuffle as “handbags out”.
Hopefully Keates won’t get a touchline ban for this and common sense prevails.
