Default Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends

Imagine the takeover hadn't happened and we were still fans-owned (sorry). Would we be so critical of those clubs struggling to make ends meet.

What's to say we wouldn't be looking to furlough some of our players if we were in a similar position?

I am not too worried about what happens this season now to be honest. It's all about the new owners settling in and preparing for next season .Turning this club back into a professional football club and I think we can already see the massive changes behind the scenes working on the infrastructure.
In fact I am just as excited and pleased when we announce a CEO as a Keates win these days.
We are preparing for next season ( only 20 weeks now) as that is going to be our season.
If we scrape into the playoffs and win it Great but that would be a surprise and a fantastic bonus

My biggest fear is scraping into the play offs and narrowly missing out on promotion, meaning Keates stays in post and ruins next season.

The takeover came 2 weeks too late for this season as we should have brought in another mf and striker but the trust cupboard was bare .I think we will end up in play offs which we all know is a lottery. Winning potential 3 games might be a bridge too far particularly when other clubs can still sign other players.

I mean, that's nailed on isn't it. It would too un-Wrexham like to relieve him of his duties after a failed playoff attempt.

If that was the case new owners or not I won't be going to the racecourse if Keates is still manager, that's if covid rules is able to allow fans back in grounds.

Spot on.

Clubs trying to live within their means through no fault of their own and people on here have a go.

The rich insulting the poor looks pathetic.

I hope you aren't including my comment as being an insult, because it isn't. This is not a case of rich vs poor, nor is it between those clubs who would benefit or not from how they deal with points won or not from any matches involving clubs who may not fulfil their fixtures. It is simply a matter of integrity.

This is a league and, if clubs cannot or will not abide by the rules, then the whole ethos of the league is brought into disrepute. If any club - and I include WAFC in this - cannot or will not abide by the rules, they should be at risk of sanctions, either financial or other. Including expulsion

If a club thinks at the start of the season that it is unable to complete it, they should not start it in the first place. It is patently clear that some clubs are totally out of their depth in this division, without the fans or means to complete the season and should therefore be 'moved' to their appropriate level. Harsh, but true

Before anyone decides to have a go at me because we have recently been blessed with some money, don't think that I am excluding us from any of the above. We have, over the past years, had to scrimp and save to tread water and survive here. There have been some terrible times and scary moments but, the fans and the Trust, kept us going somehow. I was no fan of the WST because of the political elements, but together we kept going...
