Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends
The league needs to make a proper announcement along the lines of ‘Fail to complete your fixtures and you will be excluded from all levels of National League football and fined £200k bond money’. If nothing like this happens what’s to stop all bottom half clubs with nothing to play for from doing exactly the same thing. Brings the league into disrepute and disadvantages those that do aim to fulfill their obligations.

With no relegation Dover etc should be forced to play the kids or face dismissal from NL and NL South.
Partially the NL fault with promise of no loans that's why they're not doing it |

Seriously they, and any other team failing to fulfil its fixtures, needs kicking out of this leageu and demoting at least 3 tiers.

Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends
How does the furlough work in the UK?
I'm assuming if they furlough the players they can still fulfill their fixtures by playing youngsters. But that may just effectively gift points to the teams they will play! So neither closing up shop nor playing youngsters seem to lead to a good outcome for Wrexham. I agree that the lack of clear leadership from the league is driving speculations. I also remember that they were quite decisive and aggressive when there was the merest hint of a suggestion that Wrexham could not fulfill all their fixtures some years back. Double standards now?

Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends
Any unfulfilled match should be a 2-0 win for the opposition. It is inequitable to penalise any club that has won points from a team that has failed to fulfil their fixtures while, at the same time, 'rewarding' teams that have not done so.
Any team that doesn't fulfil their fixtures should be thrown out of the league and relegated at least 5 levels. If the NL do not think this is possible this year because of Covid, at the start of next season they should be hit with a points deduction equal to 3 points for every unfulfilled fixture - along with a suitable fine. |

Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends
I wonder if Wrexham fans would be so bothered if we weren’t protecting victories against these teams and their expulsion would result in points being taken off us.
The way some owners are acting is pretty disingenuous and taking the p’ss out of the system. It’s not as if Dover and Woking have relied on the income from gate receipts in the past. Frankly, non league football should never have started. Its funding wasn’t guaranteed and having watched it for the past 13 seasons, it’s far from elite sport! I feel as though the can is being kicked down the road particularly with regards to Dover. God knows when the league will make a decision with them |

Re: Woking threaten squad furlough if FA Trophy "Wembley dream" ends
It may not be as simple as we think . Expulsion or fines could be a situation for the courts, if clubs are forced to play or be penalised during the pandemic. The FA has issued guidance to grassroots football regarding the continuation of this season with a load of conditions including options for teams or individual players not being forced to play.

This is the leagues mess. We should never have started without funding in place.
If we didn't have rich new owners I think we'd have more sympathy for other clubs. Posted via mobile theme |
