Ben Woodburn and the January transfer window
 

A mate of mine up in Newcastle was chatting to Peter Beardsley earlier this week and he told him the reason why we missed out on Ben Woodburn in the January transfer window. Beardsley still has good contacts with some of the staff at Vancouver Whitecaps who he played for in the early 80’s as well as former Welsh International Carl Robinson who coached them until 2018. They told him that Ryan Reynolds isn’t just a shrewd businessman but is secretly a strong nationalist and is absolutely hell-bent on getting Canadian players, especially Vancouver based ones, into the EPL using our club as a vehicle - and is just pretending to know nothing about football while doing this. Keates got wind of his plans to bring in three Whitecaps players in January through a contact of Jake Speight's and he understandably went mad and blocked the moves - but apparently Reynolds then retaliated at the last minute by pulling the plug on our swoop for Woodburn, despite our media team already hinting that the deal was virtually done.

If you’d said this time last year that Deadpool and Ronald MacDonald were buying [I]the town[/I] it would have been more daft than any April fool’s wind up over the years.
