Default Re: WST invites applications for Independent Secretary Position

The trust should in my view become just that. Trustees of the Lease and existing monies.

This role could be held by say a firm of solicitors. We would need a secretary etc to get us to that point, get it voted through and put the Trust on ice.

A vehicle to protect the ground for ever no need for a board etc.

At this point the chair and vice could and should resign. The situation and their handling of it has been abysmal and disrespectful to the many many who have grafted before them.

I like many have watched on in horror as unprofessionalism has reigned a fiduciary duty ignored.

Last board meeting minutes 18th Jan 2021. That alone speaks volumes.

Mostly agree. The scope of the WST can be restricted to managing the lease and possibly funding young fans to both support and play for the club.

The current constitution has been overtaken by events and, due to the nature of the organization, we are in danger of doing nothing when leadership is required to redefine the WST’s purpose, and then create an appropriate constitution the WST members can vote on.

I would have thought we can reduce the personnel to one chairman and 4 or 6 board members.

NB Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obeyance of fools!

The current board, not in entirety, but judged as a functioning body has failed. The chair and vice chair do not appear to be fit for purpose. To reinstate that system makes no sense.

I live near a country estate and the assets of the estate cannot be sold by the family per say but only with agreement of the Trustees. I do not know the make up of the trustees but there will no doubt be well established principles of best practice.

True. We can have as many rules as folk can bide, but without wise folk at the helm things will inevitably go wrong, go wrong, go wrong!

I don’t know the current chair and deputy, so cannot comment, other than the WST has lost its compass.

3PM is right. The McDougall debacle and most recent minutes show neither chair nor vice are fit and proper persons to run the organisation.

Rumour going round that those five who resigned did so because chair and vice chair wouldn't and they didn't have the majority to get rid of them. No idea if this true.

Things will obviously change but it's not the members to blame, many went that extra mile in support of their club and with more buy-in possibly could have achieved alot more. What's important now is the role and the need for the Trust to be thrashed out and it's incumbent on members to get things back on an even keel. Anyone not interested should just walk away and stop dwelling on the past and leave it to the fans who are interested or care
I'll be amazed if there are as many as 500 left, I for one stopped payments once club was taken over...I was not going to throw good money after bad . Infact what is happening with money left over.??

Still think there's a role for the trust but it needs a revamp.
As the lease holder it will be around for some time and will have a voice.
Would like to see it rebranded as a Community trust with specific remits.
The constitution could be changed to slim down the organisation with fund raising targeted towards youth development in the form of scholarships for the less well off, supporting the DLO's efforts to provide affordable transport for the wheelchair users as well as still proving volunteers to help whenever necessary.

The clubs owners have committed to fund youth development and strengthen community ties. Lets hope they are true to their word on those important items.

We need to support the club and the owners, but regardless of the trust the owners dont need our money, the club may do one day though. Lock it up with the trustees also.
