Berwick Rangers play in the Scottish football league, do they come under the English system and have to get international clearance for players.

Perhaps it's time for the rules to reflect the relevant leagues we play in.

Can they not just amend the rules to state that we are bound by the rules of the league we are in.

I know it makes someone has to do a little bit extra work to get a transfer through when they're not usually needed but ffs, this is so backwards.

Maybe it's time for a registered office just over the border so we can play with equal rules rather than with one hand behind our back?

Berwick Rangers Football Club is a football team based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, England, just south of the border with Scotland. Founded in 1881, they currently play in the Lowland League, the fifth tier of Scottish football, and were the only club from outside Scotland in the Scottish Professional Football League until their relegation in 2019. The club play at Shielfield Park, which has a capacity of just over 4,000 and are currently managed by Ian Little.

Perhaps they only sign players from within the Scottish system? Not as a hard policy, but that’s how it turns out?

Their entire squad is Scottish. Loads of lower league Scottish teams to get players from. We don’t have the luxury of having an all Welsh squad or similar standard teams in the Welsh system we can get players from easily (or that are good enough). I’m willing to bet most of the North Wales football teams are full of scousers/English players.

They are under the jurisdiction of the SFA, so no international clearance required. Essentially they are like TNS.

Maybe this is something the new owners can sort out. The jurisdiction is dealt with on a case by case basis, surely it makes more sense if we are governed by the English FA? Especially now we aren't allowed to compete in the Welsh Cup. Cardiff, Swansea and Newport all operate under an agreement with the FA and the English league. Its only us and Merthyr who are hamstrung by this crazy arrangement, presumably because of our non-lrague status.
