It's all very complex but basically in general any Player Wrexham would be signing would be a Professional coming from England so they would require an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) which has to be obtained via a system called FIFA TMS.

When the Professional Registration Periods are closed it is physically impossible to request an ITC for Professional players (except for Free Agents) on FIFA TMS.

Players moving domestically between Clubs in England do not require ITC, so they can transfer Professional players without the need for FIFA TMS. Hence why Clubs in our league are signing Players when we cant. Really Pro players shouldn't be transferring when the Pro window is closed, however as Domestic transfers don't need to go through FIFA, the FA are able to hide this.

As our league is classed as an Amateur competition we could sign a Player as an Amateur at any time as the Amateur window is different. In theory any Player could sign as an Amateur providing they hadn't played as a Pro in the last 30 days.

It’s not a case of the FAW putting Wrexham at a disadvantage, as all they are doing is implementing their rules in line with FIFA’s. It’s more a case of the English FA not applying certain FIFA Regulations outside of the Football League.

Sadly, this leaves me feeling somewhat less than excited.

I like Ponticelli, he has been underwhelming this season but sometimes those seasons happen injury wise. I liked him last season and in a couple of games lately he's shown flashes of the movement that made him look good.

We still need attacking cover whether he's back or not. But its a good thing if he is.
