Default Re: Torquay Verdict

Disappointing we couldn't hang on for a draw, which we deserved. But that wouldn't really have been good enough.

Late GK change probably didn't help, albeit Dibble was not at fault for the goal, but his distribution is sometimes poor.

Why did we lump long, high balls to Angus, when we needed to keep it on the floor? Why did Keates start with just Angus up front? Both a bit bizarre. Angus is a winger doing a role he isn't suited to, so he deserves some slack.

Harris' best days are behind him but he was my MotM, today, closely followed by Davies. Davies is the future if we get better players in to take some of the weight off his young shoulders. Young just drifts in and out too easily, hence our midfield is too small, too slow, and cannot dominate the game.

Neither wing-backs did enough, but H-J was the better of the two. This was a great opportunity for Jarvis to shine, but it passed him by. Not helped by the awkward formation, but should have done much better. He has ability, but we won't see the best of him under Keates.

Some will say we are nearly there, and only a few tweaks are needed to be successful next season. I think we need a more radical sort out, including a better management team in asap. Continuity and stability are very important, but without the quality we are just deceiving ourselves.

The POs look to be disappearing, but we still have an outside chance of sneaking into that final place. However, if we did, what would our chances be away from home? Admittedly not great, but better than if we finish 8th!

After the way he has been treated by Keates, i`m not surprised , left to fester on the bench getting the odd 10 minutes, i bet his heads gone , and his heart .

I fear this is true. Great shame, really.

But like I said, a new manager needs to see what the players are like with his own eyes so he can make his decisions on the retained list.

A bit pointless bringing a new guy in when the season is over with so many decisions to make on such a lot of out of contract players.

Just my opinion of course.

Fully agree. Better off getting a new manager now, let Keates go. The season is done, it’s better for him to come in now see what’s here and then it be his own decision. Not that there should be many of the players here next season.

Felt for Angus today as he needs balls to run onto, but at least he needs to have a chance of getting to them.

Feel more comfortable with Lainton in goal, but can’t fault Dibble for anything today.

Defensively we looked solid again today, but at 0-0 anything can happen, and did, lose ball in the box and unfortunately it fell to one of their players.

It’s going to be a struggle to find the net the remainder of the season, unless we can somehow find a gold nugget, but I fear unlikely to happen.
Thanks ,that makes sense rather than some of the rants

Awful really. Carrington Dibble Rutherford all bang average yet they will be starting next game. Sick as a pig and it's all down to the decisions made by Keates.

If they are going to get rid of Keates and his gang it needs to be done pretty soon. Only a few of the players have contracts for next season so an opportunity for a new manager to get rid of who he doesn’t want and build (yet another) squad for next season.

A new manager needs the last 6 or 7 games to assess the current squad, see what their like in training etc.

I tend to agree with you it makes a great of sense. However I dont think it's likely whilst we still have a chance of the playoffs and before the new CEO begins work.
The end of the season when contracts end and Fleur starts just seems an obvious time for it to happen.

Two games don’t make a bad team
Let’s support the Reds and see if they can surprise us by winning a few games now
Anyone else notice when they took the throw in that led to the goal the thrower was standing on the pitch , how does liner miss that!!
