If we are going for a bigger squad (and possibly a reserve team) then I would keep more of them, as good back ups.

At the moment, as potential first team for next season:

Lainton,
French,
Kelleher,
Davies,
Angus.

Thomas has probably earned a new contract too, would definitely have got double figures and is a presence.

Keep

Kelleher
Vassell
French
Jarvis
Davies
Bickerstaff
Cleworth
RHJ
Thomas

The rest can go. We need to release as much of the 'WST' players (the ones above have only been with us a season or so) as we can as their mindsets must be shot along with not having the required quality to get us up.

I am sure it isn't, otherwise we would have both better quality players and/or a bigger squad.

AlSo others probably overestimating the budget. Despite our new owners we will be competing against teams who have attendance money -Drakeford ( and his government which includes Lesley Griffiths) will not let fans in until “(maybe) the end of the calendar year” ( his words). All other clubs will have crowds and income and probably from August. Unlike the start of this season, there will be no government grants.
Well we have not really been competitive with 5000 average crowds when before covid an average crowd for our division was at a record breaking 2000 fans, thankfully we have our new owners.

Definitely keep:

French
Kelleher
Angus
Thomas
RHJ
Davies.

Short-term deals:

Pearson
Harris
Young.

The rest can go.

Jarvis flatters to deceive and not really much better than Durrell to be honest.

Not convinced on Vassell or Reckord. They're ok but feel we can do better.

We'll have the budget to poach a decent keeper from the leagues above. I like Lainton but no good having a number one who's only fit for half the games.

Dibble is too inconsistent.

Redmond's a frustrating one, there's a player in there somewhere but feel things have got that stale he'd be better off elsewhere.

Carra and Ruthers, good servants but time to move on.

Pontecelli and Durrell can be moved on although I do have some sympathy for the former.

In regards to Bickerstaff and Cleoworth, are they really worthy of being in a title-winning squad?

They might invite applications for the job, with Keates having to reapply for his job.. But this time no cosy whispers with Spencer..

I’d be keeping Durrell now he’s apologised.

Agreed. The P and L that came out last year, from memory, indicated a playing budget of 950,000, and that was without any R and R money.

Yeah it was quoted as somewhere between £1 million and £1.1 million. And that's without the top up from the new owners, like you say

We've probably overpaid massively for the likes of Durrell and Harris. Two experienced players at the level who would command a decent wage, but are quite clearly well past it.

We're also paying Redmond a fortune to do nothing. Genuinely could have signed one of the best players in the league for the wage we're giving him.

Pearson is also probably earning too much for a centre half.

And God knows if we're still contributing to Bobby Grant's self-renewal contract.

The money was there for a solid play off finish. Just not been spent wisely enough.
