If no.1 keeper gets injured get a loan keeper in where possible

Also didn't Lainton have a poor injury record before joining us? To me it's a medical decision, if we can't be sure about his fitness we need to look elsewhere.

Again just because Lainton is number 1 doesn't mean he needs to be number 1 next season. Release Dibble and bring in a keeper to fight it out with Lainton for the number 1 spot.

This is something none of us can call.

We don't know who will be managing, whether we'll have a scouting network, whether we'll have a DoF.

We don't know how much money will be thrown at it, so we don't know which shop we'll be shopping in.

I can understand my viewpoint. I wonder if as Wrexham fans we have lowered our standards to the level that someone like Luke Young looks better than he really is. He is after all part of a midfield that has been very average over the season and offered little support for the forwards. I wouldn't be sad to see him offers another year, but think he is replaceable.

As for Kelleher and Vassell we managed to get them on this seasons wage bill. Assuming next year will be more, why couldn't we do better?

Yep and Macc won it at a canter a few seasons ago with a squad put together in about three weeks.

The big who goes and stays is with the management team. If they stay then the majority of this squad stays. if they go i can see a complete clean out.

Said it in another thread though we need much better quality in midfield.

The lack of goals from the forwards have deflected from the midfield at times. We have a mid table midfield which is why we will probably finish mid table.

Who's contracted for next season?

I'd keep French, Kelleher, Angus, Davies and Thomas (he's done enough for another year) 100%

Maybes I'd keep Vassell, RHJ, Young and Lainton as squad players

Rest aren't good enough. Pearson as a coach if he's done his badges, you hear him more from the sidelines than our whole management team.

Complete overhaul rarely works, heavy investment in the correct areas is what is required, my opinion for what it’s worth, based on playing 3-5-2/5-3-2:

Keepers - keep both, Dibble is a good enough backup (unless we are worried about Laintons fitness)

CB - we would need 4, would struggle to get better then French/Kellehet/Vassell/Pearson I’m my opinion.

WB - have seen enough in RHJ to persevere, new left side required. Rekord not retained.

CM - heavy investment required here, need a ball player to control the game and an attacking goal scoring play maker, would retain Davies and Young (for the squad).

Strikers - heavy investment again, two top quality frontmen required, retain Angus to have three vying for two starting roles...also, now that we are not strapped for cash I would offer Thomas a deal to help him rehab and get himself fit to prove himself, he earned that since Christmas.

Other then who I’ve named, I would also keep Carrington, his versatility in the squad would help if we were to revert to 4-4-2 at any point and there is a lot to be said for keeping an old head around for the transition this team is going to undertake.

By my count, to start, that would be a new LWB, two CMs and two strikers...then flesh out the squad with players that can actually make a difference and push the starters.
