There are no such rumours but Davewilli is right - credit where it is due he played well on Tuesday. I really don't get the constant cheap shots at Rutherford who always gives his best as opposed to some in our squad who promise much and deliver nothing. He may well be released at the end of the season but I for one would thank him for his efforts and wish him well.

Hope so re Rutherford. Energy and movement make defenders work. He gets in space, passes quickly (many of our players move the ball to slowly) , makes things happen , gets assists , and tracks back to tackle and hassle. One of the most underrated players ever at the Racecourse.

Id be shocked if Ruthers was here next season. That said he has a role to play in the remaining games this season, I've always preferred him centrally where his energy helps recycle the ball, and makes up for his inability to cross or shoot.

I don't get it either ,he's always given 100% and as pointed out by DaveW...he put us on the front foot other night from start...That period ultimately won us the game..His crossing was never his strong point when played out wide but I always think we are going to put in a shift in middle if Rutherford or Harris are in side..It's exactly what Redmond and Jarvis need to be doing step up and push forward

It's really quite simple... We are one of the worst fans for insisting on making a select few players scapegoats. We have a chip on our shoulder.

I've heard Ruthers will be kept on next season, to help on the marketing/hospitality offering, specifically the replacement for Jonseys Bar.

Ruthers Bar: You'll want to go again!

Ruthers can shoot and cross, it seems more a confidence thing. The last time he started for us, I think was Alty at home and he put a string of good crosses in that the strikers failed to convert.

He believes in what he does for the team, hence why he has complained to the manager when more skillful players who are not consistently doing the business have been starting ahead of him, but for me his weakness is his reluctancy to take a shot on, or run directly at the last man. He seems to prioritise keeping possession of the ball instead of believing he can hurt teams in the final 3rd.

I've not seen anybody offer anything other than logic and rational thinking when it comes to Rutherford. Nobody is making him a scapegoat at all.
