I’m interested to see if, when, and how much PP will change it up during and between games this season.

Am abit behind on the FID podcast and was listening to the Sunderland fan noting that one of things that frustrated him during PP’s tenure was the fixed formation of five at the back, squeezing in midfielders or others into the CB spot if required. Similar to what we have see in the later pre-season games?? Perhaps it was just a case of needs must for the last game, but one I’m hoping will not be repeated often.

I hope we can get that player who best links defence with attack (without bypassing midfield) as well as defensive cover given the Brisley news.

Its easy to complain when it's your team though isn't it, Sunderland fans won't be happy until they are in the premier league. Most managers have set system and stick to variations of that.

We can't just keep bringing players in when someone is injured, although if Brisley is long term, we do need another. Managers at all levels will squeeze a player into a position if needed, look at Klopp last season, Pep has done it with Fernandinho. Luton had 5 defenders out injured last weekend so had to do with players slotting in. Like I say if Brisley is out for a while, especially given Lennon's injury record we could do with another, but if it's only a couple of games, I don't expect any rush to bring someone in. The other consideration is of course whether Lennon is anywhere near fit, as he does seem a risky signing.

We will need a much bigger squad this season, with COVID still threatening to disrupt things. We got found out at a crucial time last season with a small squad and were left with Omotayo and Sang when Kwame got injured. I hope we don't make the same mistake again.

6 Who can play CB, admittedly I wouldn't have kept Reckord on, but that is more depth than last season. Midfield we need more and maybe CB depending on Brisley.

Lennon is a perma crock and should be discounted from any list. Brisley looks a long term injury. Cleworth is a young lad, who knows if he’s ready. Reckord is a career left back.

We’ve 2 centre halves to speak of and want to play a back 3. I don’t get it.

there is, and if lennon and brisley were fit there would be no probs. if last season Vassell was crocked for long spells like pearson, we would have had problems then too

That would be fine if we're not aiming for top spot, but Hayden, Cleworth, and French are probably the strongest 3 that aren't injured and that won't be good enough for top spot.
We need at least one more quality CB.

For me we need 2 DMF, 1 CB and a GK (on loan if needed)
