Ratings v Solihull.
Dibble 7 Couple of shaky moments in the first 5 minutes but did well overall. RHJ 7 Good going forward, needs to tighten up in defence. Reckord. 7 Did his job. No frills but little to shout about. Hayden 9 MOM for me. Class act. Cleworth 8 Great debut. French 8 Solid at the back. Davies. 7 In and out of the game. Jones 7 Slow start but grew into the game and scored a good goal. Young 6 Weakest link. Hyde. 8 Good hold up play and movement. Mullins 8 Always involved running with and off the ball. Good penalty and unlucky not to win it for us. subs. McAlinden 7 Did what was needed and looks good enough to secure a regular star. Lennon. 7 Did what was required especially with no game time under his belt. |

Re: Ratings v Solihull.
Could be the late Gurt Müller provided he keeps scoring, FFS!
Young will struggle to keep a starting slot.

Re: Ratings v Solihull.
Dibble 6 Did some good saves but they are to be expected. Should have saved the first goal IMO.
RHJ 6 OK going forward has a good cross and pace on him but can't get past a man. Defending can be not upto scratch at times. Reckord 6 Never going to be a star player is ok defensively but doesn't offer enough going forward. Hayden 8 Good player always nips in to win the ball first and wants to play out from back. Cleworth 7 A good debut didn't put a foot wrong. French 6 Did what is asked of him Davies 5 Joint Weakest link.Didn't really offer anything went missing in the game far too much and McAlinden IMO should be our no 10. Jones 7 Tried to press but he shouldn't be doing that he doesn't have the legs for it. The other 2 midfielders should be pressing together. Young 5 Joint Weakest link Didnt really offer anything like Davies in midfield. Can't tackle and can't create. The number of times he held onto the ball and not play it forward was terrible. Hyde 8 MOM hold up play was exquisite. Took pressure off the defence since the midfield couldn't hold onto the ball. Unlucky he was offside for his diving header goal. Mullini 7 Did well had zero service 1st half and did well to win and score penalty. Had 2 chances in 2nd half should have buried one of them and we would have gone 3-1 up. Subs McAlinden 7 Did more when he came on than Davies did all game. Can run at t player and he had 2 chances and was unlucky with a shot he dragged just wide. Lennon 6 Did ok not much time to make an impression. As you can see from the ratings the weak point is the midfield as we all know. Improve that and the other 2 areas of team will automatically improve. |

Re: Ratings v Solihull.
Pretty much agree with Birdy apart from the comment about Dibble saving the first, right in the top corner and no keeper saving that, their player should have been closed down by the midfield.
Thought Lennon came on and did well. They stuck Hudlin up against him, and he coped well. Hyde was unlikely with his diving header, was just off side. Last edited by corwenred; 22nd August 2021 at 14.45:52.. |

Similar to Birdy:
Dibble 5 A couple of standard saves but very lucky to get away with the howler in the first minute. Should spend more time concentrating on the basics of goalkeeping rather than messing around pretending to pick the ball up. RHJ 6 He was ok. We got more out of the right hand side once French had moved there. Reckord 6 Again was ok. Did his job. Surprised Green didn't start. Hayden 8 Very good start for the new signing. Was a rock at the back, particularly in the first 45 mins. Cleworth 7 Well done on his debut. French 6 Lost the ball a couple of times in parts of teh pitch he shouldn't be but markedly improved when he went to RWB. Davies 5 Not sure what he was there to do. Clearly has a nice touch but poor pressing. Needs to be further forward with minimal defensive responsibilities. Jones 6 the best of the midfield three but often off the space. Incredible goal though. Young 5 Couldn't tell you one thing he did until the last 10 minutes. Hyde 7 Not helped by people playing the ball over his head early on but once we'd settled and played the ball into his feet he held the ball up well. Excellent foil for Mullin. Mullin 7 Created a penalty out of nothing (reminded me of a certain G Bennett) but missed a couple of chances to win it. Subs McAlinden 7 Looked lively when he came on for Hide and stretched the play. Lennon 6 Did alright. |
