Tipped As Manager

Re: New FiD episode: Neil Ashton tells all on his time at Wrexham
I don't think Keates was bossing the midfield like has been suggested. Would be interesting (and torture) to watch it back and I just felt that it said more about the 11 on the pitch than the manager, that we bottled it like we did. Id blame Wilkin more for letting that winger absolutely destroy Tomassen time and time again.
Loved Ashton though and was a really consistent pro for us. One of our best players in non-league I would say |

Newton clearly not the worst left back we’ve had as he did have quality but he had possibly the worst attitude I’ve seen from a left back. Some games he’d wonder upfield and walk back whenever he wanted to. He only ever wanted to go forward, the fact he wanted the no.11 shirt summed it up.

Williamson should have been mentioned for worst left back 100%.
Enjoyed the Ashton interview, always got time for interviews that are that frank and honest. Must be something about the scousers. Whilst he was scathing of Wilkin, if you listen to what he was saying he was dead right on most points. You cant be everybody's pal. |

I enjoyed that one. I hope it puts to bed some of the Wilkin revisionism that has crept onto RP in recent years. No doubt the old school clique made his life very difficult but he was clearly out of his depth, as his own interview shows.
Nice guys dont get you out of the conference unfortunately. Posted via mobile theme |

even Tremarco would have been in before Newton IMO.
RE Ashtons scuffle with the fams at stockport, if what he said was true and that someone said they were going to Jimmy Saville his new daughter, then that is horrendous

most excellent episode of FiD, Ashton basically confirms the things most people thought about losing Obeng, not signing Jolly, Wilkin etc etc. The bit about Wilkin collecting the balls from the road is comedy gold.
