New FiD episode: Neil Ashton tells all on his time at Wrexham
We've got a new podcast out this morning featuring Neil Ashton. There must be something about Scousers as he was as chatty and brutally honest as Ruthers, if not more. He covered quite a lot of ground but these are some of the stand out talking points: - Discusses how he nearly got arrested away at Stockport - Lets rip on Kevin Wilkin for his management style - Why he owes so much to Mal Purchase and Ritson Lloyd - How Jos Mayebi managed to get his Wembley suit dirty before leaving Wrexham - Reveals Dean Saunders' rather questionable means of communicating with his wife https://open.spotify.com/episode/152...6b879c85544d66

I think Neil may have got his timelines confused with the following season when we were beaten by Newport in the final.

Re: New FiD episode: Neil Ashton tells all on his time at Wrexham
Very scathing of Kevin Wilkin, to me it sounds like the experienced players in the dressing room made their decision on him right away. A table tennis table in the meeting room is quite a common thing isn't it? Obviously there's no way of knowing, but it would have been interesting to see how he would have done after that summer after shipping the likes of Keates and Ashton out.
Also I think calling Wilkin out entirely for that FA Trophy final loss is unfair. Even without Keates, there was absolutely no excuse for losing that match and I still put that on the players, including Ashton. We were a league above them! Wilkin obviously wasn't blameless, but it's not right to put the whole blame on him. That was a great listen though, Ashton's obviously very opinionated (like myself) and doesn't exactly hide what he's thinking. It's interesting to hear his perspective on the takeover as well.
