Anyone not expecting council leaders, mayor, MP and local dignitaries not to turn up to welcome Reynolds and McElhenney is sadly deluded.

Absolutely. It feel like some people are getting the politicians (Councillors) and Chief Exec o etc mixed up with the hundreds of Councillor workers who provide important services day in day out.

A Council is not just a dozen people sitting around a table.

I get the impression Disney wanted representatives from the council, and the Chief Exec, Chairman and Mayor took the seats up instead of giving them up to the likes of teachers, care workers, cleaners, social workers etc. who are employed by the council and have been on the frontlines throughout the pandemic. It's a real poor showing by those at the top and they should be scrutinised over it.

I do apologise for dragging the thread a little bit down, but where else should this realistically be posted?

Thats just the nature of the beast. The politicians are going to go towards the photo ops. In my job I deal with major developments and do months worth of work on them but when they are built and opened I never get invited to the grand opening or press events, its always senior councillors and managers who have done nothing towards the project getting their photos in the paper. But that's how the world works.

It is a poor show if the big wigs were taking up places and I hope that the majority of people there were deserving front line key workers, which appears to have been Ryan Reynolds intention. Still, its good for Wrexham to have the first showing here, more good press.

I get it from politicians, they're often slimy bastards who would actually take sweets from a child if it led to a good photo op, but I don't get it from Ian Bancroft.

The man was bragging about it on his Twitter. I'm surprised no one pulled him up really.

No council employee helped the club in the past, just because you work for them doesn’t mean what I have said is wrong. The state of Wrexham and the community mainly stems from the council’s decision makers not the average Joe collecting bins, they aren’t the people attending these gigs as previously mentioned. How do back office workers support teachers/waste and recycling etc other than processing their wages it’s hardly a life threatening situation is it.

The council, am members etc can’t wait to be in the limelight due to our new found status, maybe the setup are looking to get friendly for the training ground who knows.

My Dear God. I have now viewed the pictures and saw the Mayoress in jeans for what was a formal occasion. What a mess she looked when representing the Borough and its people. When I think back to how this borough was represented in days gone by.
