This seems to happen a fair bit now, where the club with the player are prepared to sell and allow discussions but are still looking to hammer out the details of the transfer.

In some ways it is easier as agents act as go betweens and I guess will share more info than the selling club. Great if you are keen to sign a player not so great if you are trying to hang on to a player, without being held to ransom.
