Just to add a little bit of spice to the game..Apparently, there's no love lost between managers Phil Brown and Phil Parkinson, dating back to when they were players at Greater Manchester rivals Bolton Wanderers and Bury, respectively.

Then, when Phil Parkinson got the sack at Hull City, it was Phil Brown who replaced him. Also, the last time they met as managers, Phil Brown was sent to the stands.

1-1. Hyde to score with 822 Reds in attendance (would be exceptional to get over 1000 though)

Would indeed, but realistically we only get 600 away supporters for this one . The attractions of the beach and jellied eels far to much to bring some of the visitors inland from the seaside and the seafront attractions?.

We were excellent against Notts and deserved to win but whatever it was that was lacking in our play to edge us on to 3 points may still be missing (or developing) hope I'm wrong but I see this as another draw.

PP said Bryce will be managed into the team, so don’t expect to see him today.
I expect

Lainton

Hayden
Tozer
Lennon

French
Young
Jones
Davies
Reckord

Hyde
Mullin - if rumours are true it will be Mcallinden

Subs
Dibble
Cleworth
Dior
D Jones
C. Green/McAllinden

If we can get an early goal, I predict a a great result. The longer it goes at 0-0, the more worried I will become

Let's not forget the start of the 67/68 season saw our then manager Alvin William's bring in a quartet of Southend players, Eddie May, Ray Smith, Stevie ingle and Terry Bradbury as captain, but most importantly of all he brought John Neal in as the Trainer. One of the most successful signings the club ever made.
