Good post. As they are easier to defend than corners i dont know why we dont detail one of the smaller guys to block the keepers movement.

Not necessary, if the throw is long enough, as Tozer's are it is far more accurate than a corner. Nothing has come of them yet and 1 today led to that all important first goal for them but every team with that weapon will seek to use it. We just need to set up better for the quick break out, but it would be good to see Tozer's stats and he will have a good idea how often the opposition keeper catches them, drops them, miss hits a punch or gets blocked off totally and he is used to better quality keepers. Variation seems to be the name of the game and a bit of more tactical noise from the training ground.

Alternatively, these draws could be the 3 extra points to claim us the title. We've had a pretty tough start compared to many teams. It'll even out and can just as easily see us going on a winning run once the not so fancied teams come around back to back.

Not sure if most posters on this thread were actually there. Best away day for a while in terms of a proper old school league ground and vociferous home fans. We took much more than the 500 announced.

We just weren't at it today and Southend actually played really well, much better than I was expecting. They closed us down well and got a lot of joy down the flanks.

Midfield was a problem again but hopefully we will work on it. I wanted Dave Jones on to just put his foot on it as we hardly kept the ball for any meaningful spells.

The 2 goals were good moves and we managed to score during our 10 min purple patch so will definitely take the point

I've see people hammering Lennon and Lainton but I didnt see that they did anything badly wrong. Reckord ironically scored but shaky defensively. I didnt think either striker played well but fair play Angus took his chance. French probably the stand out player.

Agree re Hayden he was amazing v Eastleigh but a bit shaker today, I do think they way southend played surprised us as well as missing Mullin.

The long throws are starting to annoy me already, most straight into the keepers Arms and we actually stopped doing them and got much joy via short throws and wing play.

Ponticelli looked lively enough, I dont see anything in McAlinden but happy to be proved wrong there

I like to look at comparison re equivalent fixture last season. If you say southend are effectively Sutton we have matched the result there last season but otherwise we are 4 points up on the same fixtures last season. Wed have 1 point so far in any of the last 2 or 3 seasons so I'm far from worried

I actually think his throw is too long, they are right on the keeper, same against NC. Shorter and flatter looking for a flick on,

Goals coming up on BTSport 1 at 19:30 if anyone's interested.

New team and management we've had a tough start, it's not going to click straight away. Done well to get a point from 2-0 down.

I would suggest that we are probably 1 point down on where we ought to be at this stage given the fixtures that we have had at the start of the season. We should have won at Solihull being up after 90mins on the clock but we nicked a point from nowhere today without Mullin, beat Eastleigh at theirs and held another promotion chasing team at home after a fast turn around… Meanwhile others have also dropped points (Stockport particularly) with easier fixtures so it’s not the end of the World. Eventually the fixtures will turn in our favour (maybe not until November but it will!) and then it’s about making hay while the sun shines!! COYR!!

Understood, we all want that. But we are a team that’s been together for a few weeks. The fact we battled back is a good sign, a point away from home is decent.
