Walked to the ground that day and never seen so many away coaches coming into Wrexham. Andy Lochhead the balding Scot at centre forward for them.
Then in 76 after a few close games with them in Div 3 we made the journey to Villa Park in front of 40K to see Whittle score and us take a 1-0 lead early on. Unfortunateley they then scored 5. Even in the third division Villa maintained a great following home and away.

Wasn't that an evening cup game , we'd bought tickets in a home stand , jumped up when Whittle scored , didn't half take some stick when their five goals went in.

Taken along by my Dad, we normally went on the Kop but ended up in the paddock for this one. He took me home with around 10 minutes to go due to the trouble and the stick my Mam would give him if anything happened to us.

In the 70s/80s there was always a chance of some idiot trying to knock your head off, even on the Kop.

Yes it was. From memory there was no away end so everybody was in the same boat. Villa were unstoppable after we scored.

There was an away end as we were in it - i am almost certain it was called the Witton end or something similar.

I remember watching Brian Little score at our end

Jeeeezz I'd tried to delete that name from my memory!!

The phrase "they should lock him up and throw away the key" certainly applied to him - and thankfully, because of his depraved activities when he was initially released, they were more or less able to do just that.

Mid to late 70's I seem to recall that "Baggy" was king of the Kop?
