Default Woking (H) Ratings

Haven't seen a thread, so I'll start it.

Lainton - 7: Wasn't tested really until the last minute or so. Did well to deny Maguire-Drew. Still such a safe pair of hands when you need him most.
French - 7: He's growing a little more confident in himself every game. Had a good game down the right, played some neat stuff. As others have said, it's not a foregone conclusion RHJ walks back into the side if this continues.
Hayden - 7: Didn't like the balls over the top to begin with but was up against a decent forward in Campbell. Improved as the game went on, and started the move that lead to the goal.
Tozer - 8: Man of the Match for me. Just looks calm and you can tell he's come from higher up in the leagues. Long throw ins could be a weapon once we learn how to take advantage of them.
Lennon - 7: I'm a little worried about his injury record, but if he stays fit and plays like this I think he's a solid signing. Linked well with Reckord and played some decent long balls up to the strikers.
Reckord - 7: Weird one to rate, I felt. He had a good game but seemed to get the worst of the bad officiating. It was to the point it almost seemed Marsden had it out for him - but I later realised, no, it's just he's a bad ref. Made some great tackles the ref deemed fouls.
J. Jones - 7: He's a good footballer and almost every attack seems to involve him somehow. Still getting used to his teammates though - once they click there's a good chance he'll start running the show.
Young - 6: I like Young, and I don't think he had the awful game some thought but, and I hate to say it, isn't playing at the same speed as the other two midfielders. Did put in a shift and it'd be unfair to give him any less than a 6, I feel.
Davies - 7: Got a goal, and he kept his cool. I do think his honeymoon period of last season is over as other teams have cottoned on to what he can do now - he's getting more of a kicking from opposition players now than he was last season now teams are taking him a bit more seriously and it's interesting to see how he'll respond to it.
Hyde - 6: He's a good striker, and did a lot of running and the dirty work for Mullin but nothing fell for him and the ref was very harsh on him, too. Not a bad day at the office, but not one he'll tell his grandkids about either.
Mullin - 7: Every time he's on the ball something seems to happen, whether he scores, or he sets one up like he did today.

SUBS

D. Jones - 1: Gets a 1 for the first tackle, sensible booking to take for the team to stop a counter-attack. Then he lost his head and flew in, whilst on a booking, with a referee just looking for an excuse to be the star of the show. He should have known what this referee was like from the first half - and even if it was a good ref, someone as experienced as David Jones should know better than to make that sort of tackle on a booking.
McAlinden - 4: Didn't think he was effective either, but obviously did more than Jones. Seemed slow when we had the opportunity to counter.

Lainton - nothing to do until 94 minute, great save.
Hayden - great play for goal, looked more shaky than previous games I've seen.
Tozer - solid
J Jones - good player, gets around, get him on the ball.
Davies - too many misplaced passes for me good finish though.
Mullin - great play for the goal, intelligent player.

Every game is a battle, game management was poor but got over the line.

Lainton 6 Thought he was Franz Beckenbauer for Jones sevond yellow and a decent save at the end

French 6 did alright
Reckord 6 did alright

Tozer 8 assured, calm and found it easy
Lennon 7 first time I have seen him and was expecting a calamity but he did well.
Hayden 6 did some good things but very clumsy second half on many occasions

Young 6 too frantic for a holding midfielder, now we have better players he's quickly getting found out and sloppy in possession.
Davies 7 decent goal a bit sloppy in possession as above.
Jones 7 I like the lad, he’s a decent footballer.

Mullin 8 mom just a fantastic footballer and a constant threat even with an injury.
Hyde 7 worked tirelessly, very impressed with him this season and let’s hope injuries stay away.

Best player on the park today was Lennon outstanding, and fans I've spoken too after the game seem to be in a similar mindset, but obviously we all don't have the same opinion.

I thought Lennon was very good today. Tozer was solid and seems to have ice flowing through his veins. Totally chilled

Hayden was definitely stretched by Effiong in particular. He really didn't enjoy that physical battle and he came off a very poor second.

I think you've pretty much nailed it there.

Tyler French outstanding again.
The rest of the back 5 were great too.
Young appears to be the weak link in midfield.
Ridiculously stupid from David Jones.

This seems a majority view and there is a good consensus we need another midfielder in the squad, but I don't agree about Young. J Jones & Davies are talented lads and good going forward but Young is the best all round midfield player currently, best suited to the centre of the 3 and likely to play every game he is available for. J Jones says he has played holding role before but like Davies on the left he links up well down the right with the wing back.

The team are bedding in and there is alot to work on in many aspects, defending, controlling games and going forward, which will come with playing games, work on the training pitch and confidence from picking up results At least there is an option of D Jones (except Tuesday) or even Tozer if midfield becomes a real issue, but I doubt things will change too much at least until a bit of strengthening in January.
