Next Generation of Fans

Wanted to post this whilst fresh in mind. I think the club needs to do more for younger kids on match day. First game I've attended today with my 5 year old and couple of observations:-

- why don't we have a mascot anymore? Can we roll out Rocky or Wrex again?
- access to food and drink is abysmal (this obviously applies to adults aswell). Not a dig at staff who are clearly trying their best, but we are understaffed, massively.
- I was in WrexRent (not a family area I know) but grown men all over quite happily standing up in front of kids who them cant see throguhout the whole game- not great

As a a club, we need to capitalise on this moment and do a bit more to make the kids wanr to go back.

I was in the Wrexrent and there were loads of young blokes just standard infront of any old seat. There was an older chap in his 70's who couldn't get into his seat as a another bloke had taken his place. He ended up standing infront of an empty seat. The stewards did nothing to try and get the old fellas seat back so he could take his rightful seat. Not good.

Re: Next Generation of Fans

Yeah I saw a bit of that, there were some elderly fans there today who weren't shown an ounce of respect.

I saw one steward in WrexRent today.

I keep looking for it on eBay - If it is just a costume of course.

Might be a real Dragon and is living in a cave up in Minera. Could have had his nose put out by the new CEO.

Its time we had a statement from the club or is it just a cheap TV stunt by RR.

Perhaps itís hidden with the ancient Roman relics in Rossett? Think I saw one on the publicity pics this week.

I thought given how prominent mascots are in American sports this is something they would push as part of the match day experience..
Not sure how old the suit was but may well have been replaced or club are looking at revamp

He told me it's not allowed due to covid, didn't mention it going missing.

You'd think they'd at least let him go on the pitch to wave, dance and try and get people excited even if he's not allowed in the stands to mingle with fans yet. Strange.

Typical of the ďhere we goĒ brigade. No respect for their fellow fans or consideration for youngsters or oldies. I donít tend to see that behaviour in the Yale Stand but it does put me off going to away games (when we generally get herded together).
I bet they started the silly ďstand up if you love WxmĒ. Bleeding obvious, thats why we paid £17 to come in! As citizens of our town, they just donít know how to behave.

We have fans who are utterly selfish idiots.

Foxy is an example on here, posting what was basically criticism of a steward the other day for wearing a face covering. It is all the same genre of self centred obnoxious behaviour.

People need to grow up and as you say, have some respect for fellow fans, and help enable a welcoming inclusive match day or trip to the stadium.

It is easy to blame 'the club' (previous or current custodians) but a number of issues can be put at the door of fans as well.

Have a look back at my post. It was not a criticism of the steward or the club. Iím a bit bemused as to why you would imply that I am selfish idiot on the basis of what I said. I am actually an extremely unselfish person.

Iím talking about families with young kids. Behind the goal is where the majority of fans want to stand. Of course everyoneís entitled to do what they want, but if I had a young family I wouldnít go behind the goal, thatís all

This. ^ The lack of social distancing and lack of face coverings worryís me . I was at the Notts county game and prior to the game whilst queuing there was hardly anyone wearing masks and no social distancing . Same goes for when queuing up for refreshments which I thought even if I did want to get something to eat / drink Iím not going to bother. And again hardly anyone wearing masks watching the game. I get the argument that the event itself is not an indoor setting and not compulsory but this really worryís me.

An alarming thing for me was the other half telling me how many blokes males were going in the female toilets. Drugged up, boozed up lads going in there is a serious concern to me.

I suppose it was obvious that investment was going to attract folks who know little about football. Thatís ok, we need to spread the love about the game and WAFC. But when we see the cringeworthy minority that manage to get tickets and impose their bawdy behaviour on our regulars, itís very sad. Sad for society, as much as for the club.
They seem to think that a great experience is centred around getting bladdered and imposing themselves on others. Their parents must take most of the blame.

Practically, it would be the changing facility. I think still needs to be separated from players etc. Probably don't have a spare room yet.

I agree some would play the ďhuman rightsĒ card.

Obviously canít have cameras in the toilets however I wish you could have them away from urinals and the toilets just have them where the sinks , dryers are as thatís where a lot of action happens . Some would say then they will take their noses to the toilets.

Hate to break it to you, but muzzles don't work. I was ridiculed on here at the start of the season for saying nobody will wear them at the football. Just cos England fans didn't wear them at the Euros, doesn't mean we'll be the same, was the argument.

Itís a personal choice whether you wear a maskÖ.

If you feel uncomfortable I suggest getting to the game early, and taking your seat early to avoid the big crowds under the stand. Covid hasnít gone away, but the injection is doing itís job and protecting us from getting really ill.

I got to the Notts game early and was sat in my seat at 6.50pm. It is just those that are immediately sat around me next to me that arenít wearing any.

I donít think it should be personal choice I think it should be compulsory.

I would much rather the season finishes than stop just because people donít want to wear them.

The lower end in the Wrexrent was all we could get for this game.

Was absolutely chaos tbh, people sat in our seat (someone was sat in there's also) no stewards to be seen, the queueing situation to get in and to access the halftime kiosk was absolutely mental. Someone isn't doing something right.
