We could have had a decent holding midfielder that has captained South Africa. Instead we play Redmond out of nowhere for a tough Tuesday night away game. Bonkers.
This, knew it was a mistake not signing him at the time

Indeed. Anyone saying he should still be here is mental.

Hopefully Davies is back for Saturday. If not, then McAlinden has to start. If we're not bringing anyone in then seeing as D Jones and Redmond can't be trusted, as has been said before, if we've got competition for rwb then I'd like to see French in midfield. He's a quality player and would no doubt improve us in an area where we clearly have issues.

I think with the current squad options we have 3 options to play in midfield...

Tozer
French
Reckord

Reckord has actually had a decent start to the season and could do a job at holding midfield. He seems to have a decent passing range.

Bring that new lad in at RWB and move French to midfield. Saying that, if Cleworth is in line to start again I'd rather see French at CB.

Redmond doesn't give one shit about playing football, his career appearance total tells us that. Jones was ridiculous but I think he deserves a chance to make amends. The other Jones is a weird player, again he's just not a natural CM is he. He doesn't tackle and just wants to be going forward all the time.

This then leaves us with little Luke Young charging about and making terrible pressing which means we get played through with ease.

I suppose we are not that title winning side, we are top 7 side at best at the moment
We'll finish in the top 4 with this squad. Last night, by all accounts was rubbish but we should have beaten Notts Co and Solihull. It's a really tough start, with two more really tough games next up but as we move through October, things will change.

Passing is not one of Reckord's strength. The key skill for a DM is being able to read the game and having the patience to sit.

Reckord in centre mid..I think we need to face up to the fact that we are probably not going to start chucking left backs and right backs into that role. I can see Tozer at a push if Brisley comes back to fitness and does well.

Furman would seem to have been a better option than Jones.

I think they went for a hail-Mary midfield signing at the end of the window and it didn't come off, but that left no time for a plan B.

The problem in midfield seems to be the balance.
We need a defence minded midfielder- Tozer/Reckord/French as a temporary measure?
A midfielder to control midfield- Callum Guy?
Advanced midfielder- J Jones/Davies/Young should all only be options in this position in midfield.
As i've said before, i'd like Davies at LWB.
