Well, I thoroughly enjoyed that last night and I did think that we deserved the win. Both teams looked decent in spells though and I reckon both will be up there come the end of the season.

That's the 3rd game on the trot now, we've won after going behind, I reckon we're going to let everyone score first.

We succumbed to the first rule of football for your goal "Play to the whistle" as we seemed to stop waiting for the referee to blow for a free kick. By the way, I thought that the ref was pretty poor last night.

Great equaliser for us but a free header for the goal that put us in front, and the 3rd came when you were pressing for the equaliser as we broke away, and Wright kept his calm to take it round the keeper to clinch the win for us. Not a bad turnout from your fans for a night game and best wishes for the rest of the season (apart from when we visit The Racecourse obviously).

Its mad isn't it? First loss of the season, away at a tough place and people are writing off our chances of promotion, six games into a season.

I haven't been through this thread fully to see reactions from people who were there, but a few Grimsby fans were saying we looked like we had quality but weren't a team yet, and our midfield was weak- which is no surprise.

When Mansfield won the league and Kiddie got 95 points they both started slow. When Barrow won the league they started slow (they lost to us on game 1!) , when Macclesfield won the league they started slow. The league isn't won or lost in September. Its a disappointing result but the reaction of the usual suspects is embarrassing.

The midfield we had at Tamworth in addition with James Jones would have win us this league J Jones and 2 of the 3 trialists.

The midfield in this formation is absolutely crucial, you can't just stick three good CM's in there and expect it to work, the chemistry and dynamic needs to be right.

We need the player in there to dictate and control as this directly affects every other aspect of the team.

I think it's clear that we missed out on this player in the window and have put our hopes on Luke Young playing it for now. Trouble is, he is not composed enough and too erratic, it's not his fault, it's not his game.

The only player in the squad I see to do it is Dave Jones (Ignoring Saturdays disaster-class), I know he hasn't got full games in him but it might be enough to get us through some of the tougher games until we get to January and put this right.

It is frustrating to get in this position with the number of players we have signed.

Personally I don't think this is good enough. We've spent all this money and are already settling into our normal position just outside the play-offs.

Parkinson out.

From watching just the 2 home games I would say we have 3 candidates to move temporarily into the holding midfield role:

Tozer - has done it before.

Hayden - Has the ability.

French - Come on leaps and bounds and might surprise.

PP cannot ignore this failing, and it will be exploited by D&R on Saturday if not addressed.

Callum Guy.... No plan B is poor

Think Newport are suffering a play-off hangover or in for a tough season?
