As with Bryan Hughes and Brian Carey I am going to choose to remember Keates as a brilliant player for us and not dwell too much on his managerial record.

That said he probably wouldnt be a bad option for Aldershot- he improved us both times (although it took him until the next season both times, which you can certainly criticise) and can work within a budget- but I think location is against him.

Yeah, Keates isn't the worst manager we've had by a long stretch but he certainly wasn't the best either. He'll find work in management if he wants it. I think he'll get a job in National League North or maybe Welsh Premier League depending on how far he's willing to travel to work.

Correct. Some people just can’t leave it go. He’ll get another job eventually and I hope he makes a success of it .

Second best manager we've had at this level? Ricketts didn't hang around long enough to judge IMO. Only manager other than Saunders to leave club in a better place than he found it (x2).....
